Dear Sir,
I installed Airtel broadband at my home almost a year back. The service I subscribed for was 80GB per month for Rs. 1800. With taxes it comes to Rs. 1909 a month.
For the month of June, I received a bill of Rs. 2807. On asking Airtel customer support for the reason of the extra charge, they said I had activated “Airtel Smartbytes”. This is basically a service which according to them after the consumption of 80GB gives an option to purchase extra data for an extra amount.
I did not any notification of exceeding my consumption of 80GB neither did I receive the notification for consuming 80% of my specified limit. Both notifications are required to be sent to me via email from their end.
But they claim that I received the intimation to activate “Smartbytes” and that I agreed to all terms and conditions. I received a mail for the activation of “Smartbytes” which I ignored assuming it was just another advertisement.
I contacted customer care and they promised to tell me the IP address of the device from where the service was activated. I received no such IP address but I did receive a mail saying that they have have checked their records and established that the charges levied towards the account are correct and valid.
Kindly take appropriate action.
Any evidence required can be provided on request.
Thank you.
With warm regards,
Dhruv Ruparel
