Name of company/service: BHARTI AIRTEL/POSTPAID MOBILE SERVICE
I am a new user of Bharti Airtel Company using post paid connection having number 9760137137, which got activated on 14.06.2012. On 28.06.2012 I requested to activate internet facility (GPRS) on my above mobile number under Rs.98/- plan through airtel customer care office.
It was a very painful for me when on 04.07.2012 afternoon my outgoing calls were barred by the company. When enquired from the customer care they informed me that the limit of usage exceeded the allocated limit hence calls got barred. When further enquired it was informed that due to usage of internet this problem occurred & my unbilled amount rose to Rs.7339/-.
As per my knowledge I have used internet on 3 occasions i.e. on 15.06.12, 30.06.12 & 01.07.2012. When I took this connection it was informed that 200 MB of internet usage was free under the scheme. Besides this internet plan got activated on 28.06.2012 under Rs. 98/- plan, then it is not understandable that why this huge billing is there? When enquired it was informed that while preparing the bill, the discount was given under Rs. 98/- plan on prorate basis and not for full amount because my billing cycle is expiring on 06.07.2012. They also informed me that this is the policy of the company to charge prorate rent and providing prorate usage limit. My question in this regard is even this type of policy may be there but, why this fact was not informed to me at the time of activation of internet (GPRS) through customer care and why they kept me in dark. Have they informed me the policy of the company by any means such as SMS or in writing? Is it not a harassment of a consumer by levying charges for any type of service without conveying the complete terms and conditions before its activation.
At this juncture, I would like to lodge the complaint to your forum and request you to take up the matter with the company and instruct them to adjust the amount charged for the internet usage fully as the same falls within the limit covered under the plan of Rs.98/- which I got activated on 28.06.2012 and also compensate me for mental torture due to barring of calls without any justifiable reason.
At the end I would like to inform that I have also taken this matter with the The Ombudsman, Bharti Enterprises Ltd., New Delhi on 12.07.2012. In response they also telephonically informed me that this is a policy of the company of providing prorate usage limit of internet although this fact was not conveyed to me at the time of activation of GPRS facility to my mobile.
I am not satisfied with their plea and taking this matter to your forum.
