I had booked a ticket from Delhi to Boston for the 24th of August on makemytrip.com
The booking was confirmed and the payment was also charged to my credit card.
Next day I was informed by make my trip dot com that there was a techinical error and my booking has to be cancelled.
I am going abroad for higher studies.My visa interview is scheduled for the 7th of August. It is one of the most busiest times of my life and at this point I was forced to run around for my tickets.
Eventually I booked myself for British Airlines flight, which was available earlier as well but I did not want it. I was against using this airline as beacuse of the ongoing Olympics London has been declared as a sensitive area due to security threats. Besides this threat, transiting via heathrow airport would be a night mare at this time.
I will also have to suffer financial loss due this cancellation of my flight. Since now I could get cheaper airfares for the 18th and would now be reaching US about a week earlier than planned. This would mean one more extra week of Hotel room (till I get my boarding from the start of my term), food, etc. This works out to be approximately 200 USD per day.
The actions of makemytrip.com has exposed me physical security risk, mental harrasment, security risk and wasted a lot of my important time which is very crucial to me at the moment.
I seek damages from the portal for the financial loss described above and suitable compensation for the mental harrasment and inconvenience.
