Location/place: Vishakhapatnam
Name of company/service: SevenHills Hospital , Vishakapatnam
SevenHills, Vishakapatnam has been the worst experience of my family’s life. Worst facility, Worst hygeine, Worst Doctors or rather MURDERERS!!!
My dad passed away in Seven Hills, Vishakapatnam. He suffered in the hospital’s AMCU – 3rd Floor for 1month. He was diagnosed correctly only after a week and by that time he was already deteriorating. The disease progressed so fast inspite of Prognosis which showed how efficient the doctors are.
My dad was conscious and the doctors used to discuss about the disease in front of him(of how serious the disease was and how poorly he was responding to the medication).
When we used to visit my dad in the ward , he himself used to complaint about the doctors being so negative and demotivating that patient would die just by listening to their comments on the patients progress!!! Dad specifically mentioned about of few doctors who just didnt have emotions towards patients. They just didnt bother of how the patient (who is already so scared in the AMCU) would feel listening to negative discussions about his disease.
The doctors :Dr Mohan- Anaesthesist , Dr. Kuchel Rao – ICU Head , Dr Ravindra Babu- the famous Chest Speacialist and other duty doctors used to look at his reports in the ward and Say “NO HOPES” inspite of my dad being awake. There were 5~6 doctors treating my dad, but no coordination between eachother. Each doctor used to look at each organ separately and no discussions used to happen between eachother to see whats the best possible medication. We saw 2doctors prescribing 2different antibiotics at the same time. The veining process to get him off the ventilator had started too late when we called for a 2nd opinion doctor. No physiotherapist was seen any time to get his muscles working. The emergency doctors would always be on the mobile / or playing at their workstations(which was observed several times in the ICU)
While waiting in the lounge area, for 1month we met all the attendents of patients in ICU/AMCU and came to know not 1 of them was happy with the treatment there. None of the doctors were clear in explaining the patients problems in layman language. Daily update for most patients was the same,
DOCTOR – “still critical – we have to wait and watch”.
ATTENDENTS – But what is happening?
DOCTOR – ” Cant explain to you as you wont understand.
Few patients were diagnosed incorrectly because of mismatch of reports!!1patient went through 3 brain surgeries because of a carelessness of doctors twice!!!
We wanted to move him to another hospital , but his transportation would have been a major risk at that time.
My dad was a fighter till the end. A little care from the doctors would have boosted his “Will Power” and maybe he would have been with us today. One of the major reasons of my dad not being with us today is because of such ruthless doctors!!
This should really be taken seriously as the doctors behaviour with the patients plays a major role in curing the disease. If the patient is not comfortable with the doctor, no medication will work on the patient.
1) Caring Behaviour should be the 1st teaching to the medical students.
2) There should be a limit to the number of patients per doctor in the AMCU / ICU – (3~4 patients max). The patients are already in critical stages and even little carelessness can kill the patient.
3)There should be proper discussions between group doctors attending the same patient.(not on phone, but together face to face in the ICU)
4) The hospital’s finance Dept should be transparent in providing proper break up of bills and should get payments weekly of after discharge and not DAILY like in 7Hills.
5)There administrative board of the hospital should be on rounds daily to monitor the doctors behaviour with patients.
6)There should be an unbiased complaint management forum sitting in the hospitals to take immediate action and set things right ( so that patients can be saved before its too late)
I hope this is enough to trigger the management of SevenHills to wake up and take immediate action against the mentioned doctors.
Its an appeal from the World’s Strongest DAD’s daughter , Doctors – please save lives by treating patients as your family and NOT JUST ANOTHER CASE!!!!
