Vodafone Prepaid Account

I have two Vodafone postpaid numbers. I had to come to USA urgently. Before leaving I had intimated them over phone to close my number. My wife has also followed up with them sevral times from India and went to their office to get the number closed along with marriage certificate(as an evidence, demanded from them). they are still not closing the number and are generating the bill continuously. I can’t come to india just to close this number and I do not want to pay the bill since no one is using it. Is there anything I can c=do to mitigate this. Vodafone staffs are too rude and non co-operative.
