Vodafone Applied incorrect Download charges

Hi ,

I am JP being Vodafone Postpaid customer over 6+ years.
I’ve become the latest victim of incorrect download charges by Vodafone which I have never downloaded, neither have I visited the website.

Monthly Rental Plan : 249. 1GB – 3G Data plan(Rs 250)
Bill No – XXXX8154
Bill period – 20-Oct-2014 to 19-Nov-2014
Bill Date – 20-Nov-2014

When i checked the bill, I couldn’t understand what these stands for.

30.10.2014 wapvilla_ppd 0.00(Kb) Rs.49
30.10.2014 d2c_mobilart_75 0.00(Kb) Rs.75

Total Downloaded charges = 124/Rs

While verifying my previous bill Oct-2014, similar charges were applied with difference website details.I am not aware of the below websites name until now.

Bill period – 20-Sep-2014 to 19-Oct-2014

20.09.2014 hungama.com_value_v 0.00(Kb) Rs.50
20.09.2014 mobilart_valuepack 0.00(kb) Rs.30

Downloaded Charges – Totally Rs.80

When i contact customer care (198), they are not raising any complaint about the download charges. They responded like Vodafone will make download charges if paid websites are accessed, even though 3G data limit exist.

I just wanted to understand when 3G data plan is activated, how can we identify paid websites without any notification/alert. If so, Vodafone should provide the list of websites which are free/paid.
Most interesting response was “As we are using smart phone, we might subscribed some websites by mistake, which is not realistic.

I have checked in the consumer forum complaints, and along with me there are hundreds who have been fraudulently charged by Vodafone for these absurd downloads.

I demand the charges be reimbursed. Expecting the fair service to the customer.

    INSPITE OF ASSURANCE OF ACCURATE BILLING FROM VODAFONE, I AM VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FALSE COMMITMENT FROM VODAFONE.

    AGAIN VODAFONE HAS CHARGED RS. 75 ALONG WITH TAXES STATING AS BELOW:

    ON CALLING 198 COMPLAIN LINE YOUR CALL CENTER PEOPLE “MR.ADIL” HAS NO ANSWER FOR THE SAME AND IS NOT READY TO TAKE MY COMPLAIN OR RESOLVE MY PROBLEM. REF.NO.1067525531

    RESPECTED SIR / MADAM DO I SEEM AS A FOOL TO YOU PEOPLE THAT YOU GO ON CHARGE ME FOR ANYING AND I AM GOING TO PAY BLINDLY. I AM A LEGAL TAX PRACTITIONER SO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, WHAT IS THAT YOU HAVE CHARGED DOWNLOAD CHARGES FOR ?????

    THIS THE THIRD TIME YOU HAVE CHARGED ME WITH SO CALLED “ DOWNLOAD “

    I NEED SOME EVIDENCE OR EXPLANTION FOR THE CHARGES MADE THEN ONLY I AM GOING TO PAY.

    ONCE AGAIN “I HAVE NEVER DOWNLOAD SUCH THING ON MY MOBILE OR HAVE ACTIVATED ANY SERVICES. BEING A CORPORATE USER TO ACTIVATE ANY SERVICES I HAVE TO MAIL FROM MY REGISTERED ID . I HAVE NEVER ACTIVATED OR SENT ANY ACTIVATION MAIL FOR ANY SERVICES FOR WHICH U HAVE CHARGED ME.”

    PLEASE LOOK INTO THE MATTER AND REVERT THE AMOUNT WRONGLY CHARGED TO ME ALONG WITH THE TAXES

    IF YOU CANNOT RESOLVE THEN I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT I HAVE TO REPORT THE CASE TO “MASSMA” MY CORPORATE GROUP AND WILL HAVE PORT ALL THE GROUP MEMBER IN OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS.

    I have faced the same issue for last month bill. something called as WAPVILLA_PPD and deals_mydala_99 , for these they have charged me total Rs. 477

    I too faced this issue. I immediatly contacted Vodafone customer care and they waived off my amout charged under D2c_mobilart_75 and D2c_mydala_99.
