I was pestered to buy a VLCC Pimple pen from the Brigade Road outlet of Health and Glow in Bangalore. I had a few acne on my left cheek and the cream promised to dry it out in three days. The instructions on the tube said I should apply it more than once a day on the affected area for maximum results. I did as per the instructions. There was a burning sensation and I assumed that it was because of the clove oil the cream contained. And overnight, my skin burnt. The epidermis flaked off revealing the flesh inside. It was so ghastly a sight that I was scared to look at my face, When i consulted my dermatologist, she said that I had burnt my skin and took a picture of it. It’s been over a month and I am on medication. There are deep marks that the burn has left. I am hugely enraged by this incident and have been trying to approach Mrs Vandana Luthra directly. My efforts have been in vain as the board numbers stated on her website don’t connect you to anybody. I plan to take legal action and approach me colleagues in the media to take stringent action against VLCC. Although I haven’t decided on an amount for compensation, I would certainly take legal action and decided to initiate the process by filing a formal complaint with consumer’s forum. I certainly hope that the forum will take strict action against the company.
