I own a post paid Airtel mobile connection bearing the number 9177884482 for many years now. I was contacted by First Link communications, an Airtel dealer in Hyderabad and offered an add on connection by paying Rs100 in the month of July. The agent visited my house and collected my documents and the Rs100 fee, and gave me a sim card for the add on mobile number 9550812233. The activation was promised within the next 24-48 hrs and when it did not happen I started calling the customer support to inquire about the status. I eventually discovered that, touting all security rules (for which the documents are ordered and verified in the first place) the dealer had a different sim provisioned for my add on number; not the sim that was given to me but some other sim. For months now I have called the support again and again, been promised resolutions and call backs but so far no one has been able to resolve this blatant security issue. I even visited the Hyderabad Airtel center in Splendid towers a couple of months ago. The agents there investigated the issue and told me that someone from the Airtel dealer – First Link services was using the sim and a mail was written to them to pay up the money for the bill amounts. They apologized for this and promised that everything would be rectified. Nothing has been done to resolve this matter. Someone there still uses the sim that is wrongly provisioned on my add on number and I keep getting the bills for that. I refused to pay the bills that were being created by someone else and as a result my outgoing calls were barred just before Christmas last year. I was not able to return the greetings that were smsed to meor wish any of my friends and relatives, leading to a lot of misunderstandings and personal problems. I am in between jobs and am awaiting calls from prospective employers and this is being denied to me because my connections is now suspended. I cannot access the mails on my blackberry too. This undying episode has brought me tremendous problems, pain and trouble.
I have reached out so many times to the call centers and mailed them as well but apart from the automated acknowledgement there is no resolution or even a response from them.
I have decided to go to the consumer court and seek redressal through them.
