If it can please be explained that why Indian railways Refunds Rs Zero on cancellation of Tatkal tickets even when cancelled much in advance of the travel chart preparation, however the seat can not be claimed back if required by the passenger. I filed for cancellation of ticket bearing name of my mother on 19/7/12 of via PNR- 2437728889 from NDLS to Ranchi for travel date on 20/7/12; much in advance of the travel chart preparation. Rs 2440 was deduced for cancellation and on enquiring about needing another ticket in case, i was told to apply a fresh without any compensation. Somehow I feel cheated so thought of contacting You.
