I bought Airtel 3G dongle (no. 9900644225) couple of months back. The max speed advertised is up to 7.2Mbps. Before buying I called Airtel customer care and talked with Airtel store. Both said the MINIMUM speed would be 3.6Mbps. But I am not even getting 1Mbps and many times the connection drops. I had complained several times to Airtel. They have acknowledged that there was some technical issue and asking me to wait for at least a month to get the issue fixed. I asked for discount on my bill till the issue is fixed. Airtel declined to give any discount.
I think Airtel should be penalized heavily for not providing the minimum speed promised.
