Misguidance / Huge bill

Location/place: Chennai

Name of company/service: Airtel

Dear Sir,

I have been using Airtel postpaid mobile for 2 years. On May 12 2012 I travelled to Japan activating International roaming. After I reached Japan one week I used the international roaming. On May 19 I got a message that unused bill amount is 3000 Rs. I got alerted and asked my wife (in India) to call customer care to check why this much bill in a week. (I didn’t check the rates online but I just trusted the customer care)Customer care said to my wife “No need to worry. When the unbilled amount is converted to real bill, it will be much less”…..Due to my heavy work load in Japan I didn’t cross verify this. And I returned to India on 05 June 2012. I received a bill of 15000+ as bill. I was shocked and called Airtel customer care and explained them about the conversation my wife had on 19 May. I called dozen times and I talked to supervisors and floor manager. First a supervisor (Sathish) said that he would hear the recorded conversation and if the mistake is with customer care he would revise the bill. After multiple follow ups he didn’t come back to me. After I talked to floor manager (Basha) he said he would look into the issue and solve it in 2 hours. For 10 days he didn’t call back. On 25 June 2012 I again called floor manager and he said Airtel can only reduce 1000 Rs. Also said the billing is correct. I repeatedly asking him what is the answer for MISGUIDING ME. He said it’s not a misguidance. I now paid my bill. But want to raise a complaint about “Airtel Customer care service quality”.

1. Airtel misguided me and made me use more and billed me more. This is unacceptable. (Also I told Floor manager that I would raise a consumer complaint and he didn’t reply anything for that.)
2. When I complained about this they didn’t responded properly. Every time I had to call and chase then. And finally Customer care didn’t help.

Please help me. I want my bill to be reduced by at least 10,000 Rs. My mobile number is 9840965097. Regards – Ramprakash
