Misbehavior and Delay in delivery

On 14th August 2014 I booked a COD order from Snapdeal.com, ORDER NO. : 2620322820, for a Prestige Tulip Deluxe Mixer Grinder. On 16th August the website updated my order status to shipped, and mentioned the estimated delivery date to be 22nd August. The tracking docket number given to me by their courier partner Gati services was 547656192. Gati courier mentioned the assured delivery date as 22nd August 2014. On that date, I received 2 missed calls from that number, but I was not in a position to take the call. At 6:15 p,m, upon non-receipt of the parcel, I called the Gati helpline 1800 266 4284 and they said the item will be delivered by 8 p.m. They also gave the number of their local office at Kolkata – 8584807683. When I called them they said (it was not even 6:30 p.m.) they have gone back to their office and they will no longer be delivering the item on that day. The next day, 23rd August 2014, I called the same number , they said they will not be delivering the parcel even that day. Today, 24th August 2014, at around 3 p.m. I noticed a missed call from that number at 12 noon, and I immediately called them saying that I am at home all day please deliver my parcel. It was only 3 p.m. They again accused me of not taking their call, and said they cannot deliver even today. When I said I will be forced to make a complaint, they said I can do whatever I wish to, they do not care and they will not deliver at any cost. They did not even say that they will try. Then they slammed the phone down on my face. My question is, how come not receiving a call can be a criteria for delivering a couriered parcel, the consignee can be driving, be in some important meeting, or even in the bathroom, or in some kind of medical emergency. I am calling back after 2-3 hours only, and today I called within their office hours also. It was 3 p.m. and their delivery time is till 7 -8 p.m. as per their customer care representative. Also, the missed call was from the number 8584807683, which is the office number. SO the field delivery person must have called before leaving for their delivery job. SO what problem can the person possibly have
to come down to my address that day? It is not like they came all the way to my place, then had to go back, and again I am asking them to come back. They hadn’t even left the office when they called. Meanwhile, on 23rd August 2014, I had contacted the customer care team of Gati to intimate them about the non-delivery of my parcel. complaint Number : 12107349. They took no action. I had even contacted Snapdeal, vide ticket number 8727820, to intimate them about the issue, even they did not take any action saying the parcel is with the courier, all they can do is to ask the courier company to treat my case on an urgency basis (which they didn’t). I even contacted the regional head of Gati, on his personal mobile number 09561011798, provided by the corporate office having landphone number 040-71204284, requesting him to help ensure that the parcel is delivered by today. This was at 4:00 p.m. No action so far.
