Make My Trip Disaster

We booked a package from Make My trip and gave a confirmation to go ahead on 2nd February 2013 at 13.38 IST. In that particular mail, the confirmations were given for the services included in the package.INR 35,500 per adult, INR 26,990 per child and INR 7200 per Infant. (Hence total Pack of INR 274180)
On 2nd Feb ’13 itself we made the part payment as requested by them and got a confirmation mail from them at 17.57 IST confirming the same.
On 2nd Feb ’13 at 21.56 IST, we get an e-mail that due to flight rate change, we now need to pay INR 37,500 per adult, INR 28,500 per child, INR 8200 for infant (Hence total pack of INR 290200)
We spoke to them the very night but only what we heard from them were justifications. They also denied to return our money if we wished to cancel the trip. This was the first time we felt cheated.
Next day i.e. 3rd Feb ’13 was a Sunday and they did not bother to do anything to take this forward.
On 4th Feb ’13, we were trying to reach them since morning to get an update but with no success. We mailed them finally at 14.37 IST that we are trying to reach out to them.
Only after this mail, they responded at 15.47 IST with new flight options and changed rates.
We still thought of let going it and at 16.09 IST gave confirmation to go ahead and take our confirmation to book the flights and agreed to pay the revised amount (This was our first mistake of agreeing to their offer)
They gave confirmation at 16.12 IST that they are going ahead with our desired option and now the total cost will be INR 291420
They sent us our Itinerary at 18.34 IST.
We took a breath of relief that finally we now have a fixed itinerary with rates freezed, but the happiness only lasted for a while.
Then they gave us an upgrade to hotel Regal Plaza,Bur Dubai.
They sent us the BTQ Form and Booking Form on 5th Feb ’13 at 10.22 IST which we promptly sent them back at 11.30 IST.
In our earlier discussion, they had confirmed to me that they would take the photos from the scanned passport for visa processing and we do not require to give any other photos. However all of a sudden they asked for photos for visa with stringent specifications
This went up and down and we had a major tension here
We provided them with scanned images of passport on 2nd Feb 2013 and all of a sudden they came up that the passports are not clearly scanned that too on 6th Feb 2013.
Things did not end here ….. We got a message from them on 7th Feb that there is an extra cost of INR 8500 with regard to the transportation to Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo at Dubai Mall. In no time new e-mail revising the extra cost to INR 16000 citing typo error.
We had to get this deleted from our itinerary.
After this they sent us an e-mail with final itinerary and in the e-mail they have written that “Your accommodation is been booked in Fortune Apartment Hotel, Bur Dubai”. This was on 8th Feb ’13 at IST 10.23
After this we had a tough time dealing with ythem to get our visas, tickets and vouchers.
When we received the vouchers, there were errors.
Again a request from them – There is a special request to make additional payment of INR 12,000 as there was Air Fare Difference which occurred at time of Spice Jet Issuance. We had given our level best to confirm all the services “specially for your Visa in a days’ time” & looking forward to understand the Situation as the Difference is Very High.
This was something where we understood that these guys are taking us for a ride.
We had no option but to go to local Make My Trip office at Baroda finally. Only then we got our vouchers corrected still with errors.
Somehow we could sort out things that evening with the help of local head of MMT but in Vain and thought of not cribbing and going ahead….
We reached Dubai and we were not given the accommodation at Fortune Apartment Hotel, Bur Dubai.
We were thrown in the outskirts of Dubai at Al Quasais, Damascus Street.
For our trips like Dubai city tour & dhow cruise we were picked up first and made to go round and round to pick up others. When asked they said that we are at the most remote location and at the most lowest fare destination and hence we need to take the pain of waiting for others.
On our flight back, they had booked meal only on one booking. Others no meal…..

These are only some glimpses of the great experience we had with MAKE MY TRIP….. We have lot of things to bring to notice still. One thumb rule is that once a booking is made and part payment received, it gets freezed there. This was said to us by their own MMT head at Baroda. You did not do that with us and made us pay extra.

Make My Trip owe us an explanation for the mental trauma, anxiety, inconvenience caused, our money and many more things. It was a disaster and we did not enjoy our trip at all.

We have been trying to reach out to MMT authorities but all in vain.
