Hi,
I am an engineer working in a multinational company. Last year, from June to September, I had been to Brazil for an official assignment. On my birthday, during August, my parents sent me a gift (specifially 2 t-shirts and 1 fruit cake) through Blue Dart courier services. I received it.
After I returned to India, on Jan 2015, my company in Brazil sent me a bill which was sent to them by DHL (a sister concern of Blue Dart). The bill was for Import duty for the products that were sent to me and it was valued to be of USD 450. I was wondering how did they calculate such large sum. Then I checked the invoice of the courier, where the value of the declared goods was written. It was Rupees four hundred and fifty in words and USD 450 in numerical. So this was the mistake that Blue Dart/DHL has made as a result of which they have charged a bill of USD 450.
They are charging this amount from the the company which I worked for in Brazil and in turn they are asking me to pay the amount, which in no way is legitimate.
I have requested both DHL and Blue Dart to look into the matter but to no effect as they are ignoring me and presurrizin my company in Brazil.
This is detiriorating my relationship with my comapny and creating a lot of mental stress within me.
I would strongly require your assistance to resolve this issue.
Regards,
Avijit
