Fradulant Claims in Billing Details

Location/place: Rajapuri New Delhi

Name of company/service: BSES Rajdhani

Today I received my Electricity bill for the month of June and July 2012. As per the rates published earlier for revised Rates, the rates had been increased considerably for first 200 units from Rs. 3 to Rs. 3.80 and >400 units it was raised to Rs. 6.40.

But when I looked at my bill today, all of the bill was calculated on the basis of rates for the middle slab; i.e., Rs 4.80/unit. When I checked with BSES centralized number, they confirmed me that this was not published to the public at that point in time but this is the actual fact that if your electricity consumption exceeds 200unit/month, then the second slab comes into force. For example, if your consumption is 200 unit a month, your bill will be calculated at 200*Rs. 3.80 whereas if your consumption is >200/month, then your bill will be calculated at 201*4.80. This means that your first slab starts at 4.80 instead of Rs 3.8. This is a straight forward fraud with the public as we were aware that the electricity bill is going to raise by 30% but now this increase is more than 60% on a common man. I would like to raise a complaint against the Delhi Govt for its misleading promises to the public

You are absolutely right, when new electricity tariffs were declared it was told that it is a 22% increase. But as per their new way of calculations it has gone up by 60% which is not justified by any mean. This is a cheating with the public of Delhi. Secondly how this government has approved as a steep hike? I appeal all residents to Delhi to raise your voice against such unjustified increase.

  2. Our govt. has become shameless and we cannot argue with them. The only way to teach them a lesson is minimize our dependency on govt. We should use electricity when it is necessary. Just one month of control by public can teach any such organisation a good lesson. Similarly, we should avoid using personal vehicle and use public transport or just ask for left if possible for just one month and we can teach a good lesson to or oil companies. Solar cookers can help us to fight LPG prices. Avoid eating fruit/vegetable which is sold at the highest price for just one month. Let these things go waste for one month. Collectively public can handle many such problems.

  3. BSES bill is presented in a way that a consumer cannot calculate the amount. There must be made available an online MS Excel sheet to calculate bill based on Last and Current Readings.
