Fooling the customers !!

Location/place: Bangalore

Name of company/service: Bangalore Central

Bangalore Central says “FLAT 50% OFF” then on Bill they are deducting VAT ON INDIVIDUAL ITEM and not on the TOTAL Bill amount( 5.5% on apparels and accessories, 14.5% on shoes) that means we are not getting flat 50% discount.This is CHEATING.
* Whats the point of saying
” FLAT 50% OFF” and is the MRP not inclusive of Vat ???
* If this is universal policy then there are few other malls not doing the same.Are they generous enough not taking chance to fool customers??

    Hi All,

    I just faced this problem and did not get a satisfactory response from Shoppers Stop. I am researching more on this and will try to find the legislation that allows this.

    There are two likely cases, either these retailers are charging cuatomers illegally (I plan to take them to the consumer court) or the government has directed them to charge tax basis on wrong calculation (plan to put in an rti to the concerned department and sue them in case I do not recieve a satisfactory response)
