Hello Sir,
This is to bring into your notice an issue i faced which has brought me into a situation where I feel integrity and values of excellent customer service of HAT(Hybrid Audio Technologies) is at stake for me in India.
Let me narrate my ordeal to you.
I purchased a Set of Imagine components(speakers) from ‘Motor Concept” New Delhi India on 1st march 2012.
My setup was running without any amplifier and Components were running on the head-unit itself.
On the first day of the installation, I found a little bit of Jarring on the left tweeter. I informed this to the proprietor there and he informed that as the System has no amp that’s why it’s jarring. I don’t have much idea about car audio so i left and later use to listen at low volumes.
Somewhere around 10-11 months after this i got a Focal Amplifier fitted from some other shop because Motor Concepts do not keep Focal Amps.
After getting them fitted the person who fitted the Amp heard the pronounced jarring affect and asked me to take the car to the shop to get these checked and also asked me to lower the volume while listening.
This time when i went the proprietor Aman asked me where did i installed the Amp from and i said from another shop. He straight away said that you got the amp fitted from someplace else and hence we can’t provide any kind of warranty on the speakers. After much requests he agreed to at least check the Tweeters. When his technician checked he told me that one tweeter is completely gone and other is having issues.
This kicked me off big time that why this wasn’t attended when I asked them to take a look earlier. Taking this forward i even contacted HAT India distributors BeeSound Inc (Praveen and Jasdeep). They also sided along with the dealer and said there is no warranty as you got the amplifier fitted from somewhere else.
This is one of the most ridiculous warranty decline reasons i have heard in my life. I am very dejected and angry on the callous attitude by HAT distributors here. The quality of service that’s provided by HAT competitors and even by HAT in USA was severely missed in this case.
I would go ahead and buy something else to be used in my car and trust me money is not a problem but the attitude shown by these guys is really shameful. Two of my friends were interested in buying the Legatia SE 2 way sets but after seeing such service backed off because if something happens to the Speakers if they get an Amplifier fitted from somewhere else apart from your dealers/distributors.
