This is to inform you that we had booked our online accommodation on 24th April, 2012 at Silent Shores Resort, Mysore through makemytrip.com from 13th July 2012 to 23 July 2012. We made full payment of Rs. 37000/- (Rs. thirty seven thousand only) at the time of booking through credit-card. The booking was confirmed through an email, strictly advising us not to contact the hotel directly. When we reported the hotel on 13th July to occupy our booked room, to our dismay and surprise, we were told by hotel management that they have not received any communication from akemytrip.com. We were stranded for the whole day at Mysore without getting any meaningful support from makemytrip.com and finally were accommodated at a substandard hotel which we refused to stay. Finally, we made our own arrangement after lot of difficulties/sufferings/mental and physical torture and requested makemytrip.com to cancell our booking on 13th July 2012. The cancellation was confirmed on phone and we were told by the customercare of makemytrip.com that the money will be refunded within seven working days. As we were busy with the COSPAR-2012 meeting till 23 July, 2012, we could not follow it up as we were assured of the refund of the full amount. To our surprise, we have not received the payment as on 25th July 2012 (i.e. 13 days after the cancellation.Again we had to talk to the customercare of makemytrip.com to takeup the issue of refund. For no fault of ours we have been wasting our money, time and energy into it.
It was a clear case of manipulation and harassment. As the city of Mysore was hosting an international space science symposium COSPAR-2012(of which we were also a part), the rooms were sold at exhorbitant high rate and in the process we were denied the accommodation even after making the full payment. It is clear case of extortion/looting/cheating the customer.
The makemytrip.com should not only refund our money, but also has to compensate us for the mental and physical harassment. We ask for compensation of Rs. one lakh so that the lesson is learnt for future.
