Cheating by suggesting wrong solutions

I have a Whirlpool Mastermind double door refrigerator. Since past few days I noticed some water leaking from below the vegetable tray of the fridge. There was no other complaint other than this and the fridge as well as the freezer compartment were functioning properly and were cooling perfectly.

To rectify and understand from where the water was coming I logged a complaint at Whirlpool on 29.07.14 vide Service request No. 11502. A service engineer from Whirlpool visited my place on 30.07.14. He opened the freezer compartment but struggled hard to open the back panel of the fridge. He wasn’t sure how to open it. On this I told him to talk his senior officials rather than causing harm to the fridge. He called up his senior official and managed to open the fridge. After opening he said that it cannot be rectified today and will come the next day and resolve the complaint. On asking he wasn’t able to tell what the matter was. He charged service charge of Rs. 400/- and simply asked to switch off the fridge in the evening and that he would come next day in the afternoon.

The next day the engineer came again, opened the freezer compartment and just poured some water, put the panels in place, charged the service fee and went off.

Unfortunately after almost around 24 hours I again noticed water flowing from the fridge. I again logged a complaint and on 31.07.14, Service engineer Salman from the Co. visited, repeated the procedure of pouring hot water and suggested that the fuse and gas ( alongwith a copper part ) needs to be replaced and we need to install a stabilizer as well. On asking about the charges he informed that the fuse would cost 950/- and replacement of gas alongwith the copper part would . cost 2350/-. Even before I could give my consent for the same, he changed the fuse and said that the gas will be replaced the following day. I paid him 950/- for the fuse . I inquired if the gas needs to be replaced as the fridge was cooling and functioning normally, to which he said that the gas has choked so needs to be replaced.

The next day another service engineer came and replaced the gas and the copper part, and the due payment of 2350/- was paid vide service request No. 12365 and the stabiliser was installed by us.

Around 14th August we again noticed water leaking from the fridge and re lodged the complaint again on 16th Aug vide service request no. GB0814005041. The same day a new service engineer, Rizwan attended to the complain and after understanding the whole problem and the sequence of services attended said that as he was on leave during that tenure the service engineers who attended to the complain recommended the above solution which wasn’t understood by them. He then reported a new problem and told that because the heating element is not switching off automatically, it has damaged the plastic coil internally resulting into the leakage of water. He then asked us for some aluminium foil and placed it on the coil to arrest the problem. Unfortunately, the problem still persists and infact it has deteriorated further.

Let me bring it to your notice that I’m on my family way and this entire episode has caused a lot of inconvenience and stress to me. Continuously for 4 days I had to empty the fridge, clean it and arrange it back. I suffered severe cough post the gas replacement and had to take an off from work for a week.

I request for a fast and permanent rectification of the problem and compensation for the unnecessary solutions provided by the service engineers and the loss born by me against the health hazards.
