HDFC left a letter of a pre-approved Car loan at my desk in the office. Since it stated that there was a pre-approved loan i decided to go in for a new car. In spite of me having a salary account in the bank the bank collected all sorts of documents from me. since the name on my voter’s card (before marriage) did not match my bank account (which was opened after marriage) they asked me to provide a affidavit. I provided the mariage certificate which they refused to accept without the affidavit. Doesn’t this rejection mean that authentic documents from the Government have no importance? to add to it they never provided me with the list of documents they need to process the loan. When the representative came to collect the disbursement cheques (which are just as surity) they asked for 3 cheques and I had only 2. It took four days to get the cheque book and yesterday when I wanted to handover the cheque, the representative said she also needs the electricity bill of the house. When I have provided the voter’s card copy, PAN card copy, Driving License copy and I have a salary account in the bank why does the bank need another electricity bill which is not even on my name. I suggested I handover the cheque yesterday and the bill copy today and the representative said I could hand over both the documents today and she she would disburse the amount today itself in the first half of the day. It was necessary to get the amount disbursed today itself since the dealer needed to show the sale in this month and I was getting certain offers on the car. Now that the disbursement has not taken place I will have to spend extra from my pocket. When I call the representative she does not answer the call. This has been a shere waste of time and mental stress created by the bank. Being a customer to the bank I wonder whether the Bank really wants to give a loan. I could well go to another bank and apply for the loan and keep myself free from all this running about.
