Amazon India — raised an debit request without informing the customer towards card validation

On the day of 10th august 2017. I got a sms from my hdfc bank saying that, amazon prime membership has raised an debit request of 699.98rs towards card validation. And the same day i called thrice to the amazon customer care contact persons in multiple ways and asked them to please check on this. They simply said no sir we didnt see any transaction details for this on our side. We will wait until it gets reflected. And then the very next day i asked them about the same, and everytime i call them new guy picks up and i need to explain the problem clearly to him. Then i start asking him about the auto debit request. They told me to send the screenshots of the sms and hdfc bank statement. I have saved the bank credit card details in my amazon account for quick transaction. I didnt opt for any prime membership. If i would also i would have got a mail or sms saying prime membership has been activated and we raised an request for the debit please confirm. But didnt confirmed with the customer. I dont know the prime membership cost 499rs. But why in the name of god they raised an debit request of 699.98rs. I call them everyday and ask about the same. I sent them the screenshots. They said to wait for four to five days inorder to confirm the billing team about the transaction happened. But noone is able to solve the problem. I contacted the abroad customer care number and all they did is saying the same thing again and again to send the screenshots and a mail having the detailed info of the bank card number from which the money got debited, the date and time and all. I did the same thing. For my suprise my phone bil to call this amazon billing customer care number costed me 686rs. Because they told me to be on hold so that they can check and confirm and the call goes on like 40 or 50 minutes. Its been a month and iam contacting the customer care of amazon and explaining them every time and keeping mails and checking up regularly for the problem they made not by me. And a week before a guy from the amazon customer care says you are a amazon prime member thats why they charged this amount. I said in reply “how can you order prime membership without billing from the customer” and “how can you raise an debit request without indicating customer abou the same” and main question “why did you charge me 699.98rs when amazon prime membership cost 499only”. He was totally speechless and he told me i understand the problem is from our side only then. Sir will you please check your account once if you are getting prime benefits or not. When i tried to check for my surprise my amazon account says “you are not a prime member”. I dont know why amazon treats their customers like this. The person said sir please send me the screenshots of your bank statement and sms for one last time and i assure you in four days your money will be refunded. And i believed him for one last time and did the same explaining the problem and attaching the screenshots in the mail and sent to [email protected] mail. He said he got the mail and forwarding it to the billing desk team and higher official to get it done. And today i got a mail saying, “for this problems kindly log in to your amazon account and contact customer care”. Seriously the entire problem went for a month and now they are asking me again to start from the beginning. I need a clear explanation and my refund along with the phone charges too. That is 700 for the debit u made and 686 for the phone charges and money for the mental stress i had because of you. For the technical problem amazon has why should customers be treated like this. We are busy in our own lives and because of this kind of things we need to take up mental stress. I need amazon to answer these all questions and come up with a clear and quick solution for this. Or iam going to sue the company for the mistakes they do and play with the customers.

    Check if your amazon.com got prime membership. I was charged for 3 months. When I took Indian Amazon prime, they activated even the amazon.com prime membership. You need to contact amazon.com customer support not Amazon.in

    24th of every month amazon deducted an amount of 993rs from my credit card without informing me in advance even i am not registered my card for auto deducting on any amazon account. i was charged for 2 months they activated amazon.com prime membership but i don’t know whose account is this but my credit card are using in this account. i am not able to call bank agent due to current corona virus situations.
    i am facing the same above problem can any one tell me what can i do to solve the problem.
