dear All,
please note i was using Airtel post paid connection since 2007 with internet and my bill never went upto 800 ever. in march 2012 LOOP mobile approached with better scheme so i decided to switch to LOOP by porting the number. so applied for porting. I got a bill generated by airtel for the period 21feb-21March where the amount was Rs. 642. which i paid it on time.
now the porting procedure began from 22 mar onwards which got completed on 07 Apr ( 17 days), and i was successfully ported to LOOP network. in the mean time every thing was going fine. after a month suddenly my phone was disconnected after enquiring I got to know that due to non payment of last airtel bill for those 17 days i.e. form 21mar12 -07apr12 my line was disconnected. I went to Airtel gallery and I was shocked to hear that they have send me a bill amount of RS.14,062.00 ( fourteen thousand and sixty two rupees). I further enquired the reason for such a big amount. They said you have used internet. I said I already had Rs.98 Plan activated which includes 2GB free. I never managed to complete 2GB in my 7 to 8 years relation with Airtel, but its quite shocking that after porting to LOOP it got used in just 17 days, and not only that also went beyond that upto 20GB. Really upsetting behavior of Airtel is this. Now I have started getting calls from some lawyer who threatened me that Airtel is filing a court case if I dont cough up money. When I tried to reason, he told me I would have to. Really? Why should I? I duly paid my bills for the months I used the cell and am ready to pay the amount which I have actually used which is not more then Rs. 300.
I do think that this is fleecing the customers to the extreme. My number was 9867770208 and account number with airtel 109-101507440.
All I can say is I am feeling extremely angry and humiliated. This is unjust, dishonest and plain day robbery. A case of a big company vs a small consumer and big company trying to blackmail using unjust means and resources. I so much wish to fight this to end even if it costs me more than 14 thousand that I have been asked to pay.
