The DTH companies charge the monthly subscription charges and I beleive it is their responsibility to ensure that the service is delivered to the customer as subscribed. I have a Airtel DTH where I have subscribed the HD channels as well and paying charges regularly.
For some reason, few channels are coming in a distorted manner for a few days. All other channels are coming clear. On complaining at their call centre, the executive told me that an engineer’s visit is required, which would be chargeable, on the pretext that the STB is out of warranty.
My question to the authorities is when I have not purchased the STB (it was bundled along with the service pack), and I am paying the regular monthly charges for the service, do I, as a consumer, still have to pay for ensuring that the service is received properly? Why should I be treated as a customer who has just bought a hardware with limited warranty, when the hardware is just a medium provided by the company to facilitate the services subscribed?
