Millions of Indians had invested (and continue to invest) money into Speak Asia and, since the company also had a referral scheme, the ‘Speak Asians’ were working hard to convince their aunts and cousins and neighbors to invest in the scheme – the more members you can bring, the more you’ll earn.
The response to my story was unexpected. Some people were appreciative (for bringing a scam to light), there was criticism (did I have any hidden agenda against Speak Asia) and then there was also some level of panic among people who had invested their money into the scheme as well as some Speak Asia franchisees.
Then, as some of you probably know, a few days later, I pulled down my Speak Asia story. Why? There were allegations made that could be divided into three categories:
1. I got my facts about Speak Asia wrong, was embarrassed and therefore removed the story.
2. The company issued me a legal notice, something like a Cease and Desist, thus forcing me to pull down the story.
3. I entered into some sort of a financial agreement with them.
Well, none of the above is true.
Hundreds and thousands of people in India were ‘earning’ from Speak Asia now, especially the franchisees, and my story could possibly impact their earnings. I did not know who these people were but they were certainly from all sections of the society and the heat was getting impossible to handle.
You may call it a cowardly move but, after a few phone calls with some people, I decided that it was time to pull down the story. Journalists in mainstream media probably face such issues every single day but it was too getting tough for me and my family. I am sorry.
The rise and decline of Speak Asia
It was April and the company’s business was booming in India. The company had hired Lowe Lintas for their TV campaigns during the IPL season, they published public notices to prevent people from spreading ‘rumors’, newspapers were flooded with costly half-page ads and more importantly, Speak Asia even increased their rates.
All this hype and publicity finally caught mainstream media’s attention and the tables have finally turned.
Speak Asia is finding itself in hot waters now as most of their previous claims have been proved false. They are not based in Singapore, companies like Nestle or Bata have not commissioned Speak Asia for any market research, and the company’s business is under intense scrutiny by the government of India.
I have been a silent spectator all this while but big props to Sucheta Dalal of Money Life, Rahul Kanwal of Headlines Today and the Star News team for investigating and highlighting the Speak Asia Online scam to the public of India. I know the CNBC team has also been investigating Speak Asia operations in India since April but not sure if they went any further.
Here’s the current status of Speak Asia:
1. The government of India has launched an investigation into Speak Asia [Economic Times]
2. The Bombay High Court has issued summons to the top management of Speak Asia (they are merely fronts though) [India Today]
3. Some of the banks in India have frozen Speak Asia’s accounts for possible foreign exchange violations [Money Life]
4. The company is not based in Singapore as they claim but in British Virgin Islands and the real owners are Podium Ring International Ltd. [Business Today]
5. The Excise department has raided some offices of Speak Asia franchisees for possible evasion of service tax [Star News]
There’s possibly one more point that has not been covered so far. Speak Asia CEO, in a press conference the previous week, had stated on camera that they do not have any operations in Bangladesh. However, a simple Google Search reveals quite a few official letters that Speak Asia has written to their panelists in Bangladesh.
Now that government agencies and mainstream media is involved, it will be impossible for Speak Asia to escape the scanner this time. It may however be too late as millions of dollars have already left our shores and I doubt if that money can ever be recovered.
It comes as a huge shock that a company, involving financial transactions with 2 million people, could operate in India for so long without any scrutiny. What we urgently need is a law that will prevent any such Ponzi schemes from operating in India in future.
Update:
The latest news is that most of Speak Asia management is currently in jail and the panelists have formed an association to recover the money that they have deposited with Speak Asia. The scam is now expected to be worth several thousand crores.

I had just finished my hyderabad tour ( RAMOJI FILM CITY ) for 4DAYS with three star hotel stay at TARA hotel. And the expirience is so good which can not expressed in words you have to expereince it.

I agree all those point,I am also customer invested the amount on 20th September with promised the himbsj persong will get amount within 1 month and not it is more than 3 months. But perhaps i think you haven’t read the documets before booking a ticket, its not an investment compay and bonus period that offers company is 400 days .Even state bank and other banks are unable to give 40% in 400 days and we used to invest in fix deposists and wait till 1 year.

Span of getting bonus is increased now upto 4 months fron 21 days and the span time is different in various cities.

Will the span increase slowly form 4,5,6,7, and upto 12 months ?

You have started 4 new companies , the aim of that companies is customer should buy the product and money should not divert to other companies.But due to increased span can customer buy anything from these companies ?

I think you are going in wrong direction and “Aishwaryachi prapti paraytanatun’ the slogan that you have focused is diverting.

Suppose your span will increase upto 400 days , then i think mutual fund is better than you because mutual fund is also giving up to 30 to 35 %

Really, how it’s possible to give return around 40% on investment within Span of time and without Trip?

Please give us answer, how its work?
I saw someone receipt of investment, where investment returns surety (amt) and date (Repayment) are not mentioned.

1) Why time span of getting bonus in Kolhapur one month & in Ratnagiri 3 month ?

Hi I am old customer of u.I invested 3 times and i got the money i didnot take any tour package to save ur company income.I that much of thinks abt others.Recently (dec 20 smthing)i hv invested 45000/- this is big amt i invested in this with taking so many risks but now u r delaying so many days to give back. Ek Idea Zindagi badal deta hai, for the owners of HIMBJS. Time and again innocent people are fooled by fraudsters in the lure for high returns. Packaging the whole thing as a travel and tourism company actually blinds the fraud behind the whole thing. People who claim they have got fantastic returns from HIMBJS are actually used as bait to catch new investors into this fraudulent scheme. Never heard of a company who is eagerly waiting to distribute most of its profits to its investors. IF THEY WERE SERIOUSLY INTO BUSINESS THEY COULD RAISE DEBT FROM BANKS OR THROUGH THE STOCK MARKET. The owners have chosen not to do so because they are aware they would not get any funds from banks unless they have a proper business proposal. Hope Good Sense prevails in people and stay away from this fraudulent company. Its sad that even the regualators inspite of being aware of such activities they choose not to take action against them till it blows out into a multi crore scam.

yes, this is absolutely fraud company, myself invested in this initially i got returns, in the form of cheques,i became repre of this company, later on as i startd investing more they were offering return+investment in the form of vouchers saying to reduce transactions in my bank account, and if i want i can apply for redemption this worked hardly few months and NOW THEY ARE NEITHER ALLOWING ME TO WITHDRAW MY INVESTMENT NOR RETURNS SAYING REPRES CAN’T WITHDRAW HAVE TOO INVEST AGAIN AND AGAIN. and i am very much sure this cycle will last till this company exists(very very few months)also i wont get neither returns nor investment back… this is really true that i hav rather i am experiencing, so i request to not invest in this company… plssss DONT BECOME FOOL LIKE ME, heartiest request to all

पुष्कळ माणसे झटपट पैसा मिळावा आणि तोहि फारसे श्रम न करता म्हणून झटपट मार्गाच्या शोधात असतात. त्यामुळेच समोरचा माणुस जी आश्वसने देत आहे ती वास्तववादी आहेत की नाहीत वा पूर्ण होऊ शकतील की नाही हेही पहात नाहीत. इथे लोभी मन बुध्दीवर मात करते. लोभाव्यतिरिक्त प्रत्येक माणसाच्या मनात एक जुगारी दडलेला असतो आणि या कंपन्या त्या जुगार्‍याला आवाहन करतात. यातील काहि कंपन्या रू. ३००० वा ५००० अशा कमी रकमेपासुन सुरवात करतात. त्यामुळे माणुस ‘चान्स घेऊन बघू’ असा विचार करतो. गाजराची पुंगी ! पैसे मिळाले तर ठीक नाहि तर छोटी रक्कम तर आहे असा विचार करुन लोक पैसे गुंतवतात. शिवाय मनात ही पण आशा असते की आपण लकी आहोत म्हणुन आपले पैसे बुडणार नाहित. त्याशिवाय काहि लोक तत्वज्ञानाचा आव आणून म्हणतात कि बुडाले तर दानधर्म केला असे समजू. वारे दानधर्म!
लक्षात ठेवा, पैसे मिळविण्यासाठी कोणताही झटपट मार्ग नाही. त्यामुळे आंधळेपणाने कुठेही पसे गुंतवू नका, ती उधळपट्टी ठरेल. छोटी रक्कम खरेच दानधर्मासाठी वापरायची असेल तर त्यातुन आदिवासी मुलांसाठी दोन-तीन सायकली घ्या. त्या मुलांना शाळेत जाण्यासाठी ५-६ किमी पायी चालावे लागते. सायकली मिळाल्यानंतरचा त्यांच्या चेहेर्‍यावरचा आनंद पहा. मग तुम्हाला खर्‍या दानधर्मातला आनंद अनुभवायला मिळेल. जीवनाचा आणि देण्याचा अर्थ समजावून घ्या

-सर्वात महत्वाच म्हणजे एमएलएमच्या फ़सवणुकीच्या अनेक बातम्या सातत्याने येउन सुद्धा नवीन एमएलएम आली की ती बातमी वाचलेली तशीच आधी फ़सलेलेही काही लोक परत एकदम उत्साहात ती नवी एमएलएम जॉइन करतात.

-बहुतेक वेळा हया एमएलएम मधील अनेक ’कंडीशन्स’ तुम्हाला जॉइनिंग केल्यावर सांगीतल्या जातात.

-बरयाच कंपन्या सुरुवातीला लोकांचा विश्वास जिंकण्यासाठी पदरचे पैसे घालुन काही महिने लोकांना नियमीत चेक पाठवतात.बरेच लोक ते चेक्स बघुन टॉप अप मारतात.स्वत:च्या नावाने परत एंट्री करतात.

-गुगलबाबांना विचारल तर तुम्हाला कळेलच भारतात किती एमएलएम म्हणजेच मल्टीलेवल मार्केटिग कंपन्या कार्यरत आहेत ते.सरासरी शेकड्यांनी अश्या कंपन्या आहेत.हयात नेहमी काही कंपन्या लुप्त होतात आणि काही नव्या येतात.मला तर वाटते.आधी डूबलेल्या एमएलएमचेच प्रमोटर्स ही नवी कंपनी घेवुन असावेत.

-अपवाद म्हणून ऍमवे सारख्या उत्पादनावर आधारित कंपन्या वर्षोनुवर्षे चालु आहेत,पण त्याच्या उत्पादनाच्या किमंती खरच परवडण्यासारख्या निश्चितच नाहीत.

-खरच उत्पादकांच्या प्रसारासाठी सुरु झालेल्या नगण्य कंपन्या सोडल्या तर बहुतेक एमएलएम हया लोकांच्या ईजी-मनी मिळवण्याच्या मानसिकतेचा फ़ायदा घेण्यासाठीच जन्माला आलेल्या असतात.त्यांनी दाखवलेल प्रॉडक्ट फ़क्त नावापुरती असते.

-हयांना दुसरया एमएलएमसबंधी विचारल असता आमची एमएलएम वेगळी आणि उत्कृष्ट आहे अस त्यांच म्हणण असत.

-बरयाच एमएलएम कंपन्यांमध्ये त्यात स्वदेशी,ग्लोबल वार्मींग किंवा काहीतरी देशसेवेसंबधीत उत्पादन असल्याचा आव आणुन तिला उगाच समाजसेवेच सोंगही दिल जात.

-परदेशात अश्या एमएलएम यश्स्वीरीत्या चालु आहेत कारण त्यासंबधी काही कायदे तिथे बनलेले आहेत.

-सर्वसाधारण आकडेमोडीनुसार हया एमएलएमच्या साखळीतील शेवटच्या दोन पातळीवरील लोकांची संख्या एकुण संख्येच्या ७५ % असते.म्हणजे कोणत्याही क्षणी कंपनी डुबली की त्यातील ७५ % लोकांच्या हातात एकही चेक आलेला नसतो.

-बरयाच कंपन्या अगदी दोन-तीन हजाराच्या योजनाही आणतात.लोक मग एक चान्स तर घेउन बघु गेले तर गेले म्हणत अश्या योजनात पैसे गुंतवतात.मार्केटमध्ये भाजी किंवा सामानखरेदीत एक-दोन रुपयांसाठी घासाघीस करणारी लोक हया कंपन्यांच्या प्रलोभनामुळे आंधळी होवुन दोन हजार रुपये चक्क जाउ दे म्हणतात.

-एमएलएम मध्ये अडकलेली लोक ही एमएलएमची पट्टी डोळ्यावर बांधुन जेव्हा काही लोक आपल्या नातेवाईकांच/मित्रांच भल करायला जातात , तेव्हा त्यांच्याकडुन नकार ऐकुन उगाच हयांना वाईट वाटते.’तुला एवढ फ़ायद्याच सांगतो आणि तु…’ अस म्हणत कधी कधी भांडणही होतात.कधी हयाच्यामुळे माझे पैसे बुडले हया भावनेनेही वाद उदभवतात.एकुण हया एमएलएम मुळे नात्याचे/मित्रांचे सबंध बिघडु शकतात.काही लोक हया एमएलएम वाल्यांना दुरुनच टाळतात तसेच सार्वजनिक गप्पांमध्ये ह्यांचे किस्से ऐकुन चांगलाच हशा पिकतो.एकुणच आपल्या लोकातील, समाजातील आपली प्रतिमा बदलुन जाते.

-आपले पैसे वसुल करण्यासाठी नवीन जॉइनिंग व्हाव्या म्हणुन लोकांना लोभ दाखववण्यासाठी आपल्याला हयातुन खुप लाभ होत आहे असे खोटही बोलाव लागते.

-हया एमएलएम कडे भाड्याची ऑफ़िसेस आणि वेबसाइट सोडुन इतर काहीही ऍसेट नसतात,म्हणजे कधीही गाशा गुंडाळालायला हयांना रान मोकळे असते.

-खरच हया एमएलएमच उत्पादन एवढच जर चांगल आहे तर पारंपारिक मार्गाने किंवा एखाद्या चांगल्या कंपनीशी करार करुन किंवा एखाद्या वित्तीय संस्थेला आपले मुद्दे पटवुन त्यांच्याकडुन सहाय्य घेउन ते ही उत्पादनांची विक्री का करत नाहीत.

-गुंतवणुकीवर आधारित असलेल्या कंपन्या ज्या वर्षभरात दुप्पट,तिप्पट पैसे करुन द्यायचे आत्मविश्वासाने सांगतात त्यांनी माझ्या मते त्यांचा जो चमत्कारिक प्लॅन आहे त्याबाबत टाटा-अंबानी किंवा आरबीआय लाच विश्वासात घेवुन त्यांचा पैसा दुप्पट-तिप्पट करावा.तुमच्याआमच्याकडुन पाच-दहा हजार रुपये घेवुन ही लोक स्वत:च टँलेंट वाया घालवताहेत.

-हया एमएलएमच्या पिरॅमीडसदॄश्य संरचनेमुळे जेव्हा ती बंद पडते तेव्हा जास्तीत जास्त लोकांचा पैसा त्यात गुंतलेला असतो.एखादी बोलबच्चन व्यक्ती दहा-वीस लोकांना पटवुन दहावीस हजार कमीशन कमवतेही,पण त्यासाठी ओळखीच्या लोकांची किती रक्कम त्यांच्यामुळे असल्या फ़ुटकळ कंपनीकडे गुंतवली गेली आहे हे त्यांना समजत नाही.

-बहुतांशी सर्वच एमएलएम ह्या नवीन बकरयांच्या साखळीवर अवलंबुन असतात,उत्पादनाच त्यात काही देणघेण नसत.फ़क्त वितरकांची संख्या वाढवत जायच बस मग त्यांच्याच रकमेतील काही भाग त्यांच्या वरच्यांना देवुन उरलेला भाग कंपनीकडे पोहोचला जातो.नव्या जॉइनिंग बंद,कंपनी बंद.आमच्या इथे हया एमएलएमचे वारे खुप वाहत असतात.प्रत्येक दोनतीन महिन्यांनी नवी एमएलएम येत असते.जो ती घेउन येतो त्याला त्याच्या खालच्या दोघातिघांना सोडुन कोणालाच त्यात फ़ायदा होत नाही.फ़ायदा तिघांचा,तोटा शेकडो लोकांचा आणि महिन्याभरातच कंपनीच नाव गुंतवलेल्या पैश्यासगट गुल.बाकी हया एमएलएम करणारया अनेक लोंकाच्या मोटीवेशनल स्कील्स बघुन मला तर अस वाटते,जिहाद वैगेरे सारख्या संघटना ब्रेनवॉशींगसाठी हया एमएलएममधलीच माणस रिक्रुट करत असावीत.

– सर्वसाधारणपणे गुंतवणुकदार कंपनीत पैसा गुंतवतो,कंपनीमालक कामगारांच्या साहाय्याने उत्पादन करुन ग्राहकांना वस्तु पुरवतात.हयात गुंतवणुकदारांना कंपनीच्या कामगिरीप्रमाणे रीटर्न्स मिळतात.कामगारांना रोजगार मिळतो,ग्राहकांना त्यांच्या वस्तु मिळतात.हे सर्व सांभाळुन कंपन्या नफ़ा कमावत असतात. याउलट एमएलएममध्ये आपण पैसे गुंतवतो.(गुंतवणूक)कंपनीच प्रॉडक्टस़च प्रमोशन करतो. (कामगार)प्रॉडक्टही विनापर्याय घ्याव लागत. (ग्राहक) पण हाती काहीच लागत नाही.

खरच पैसे मिळविण्यासाठी कोणताच झटपट मार्ग नाही.उगाच मेहनतीने कमवलेले पैसे हया लबाड लोकांच्या घशात का म्ह्णुन घालायचे

रक्कम घेणारा, व्याजाच्या स्वरूपात काही काळ फक्त तुमचं भांडवलच परत करत असतो.

कोणतीही वस्तू विकायची नाही की
कोणताही व्यापारी व्यवहार करायचा नाही.
एकेकाला फक्त ‘टोपी’ घालायची.
टोप्यांची ‘साखळी’ तुटली की
आपण तर बुडतोच; पण आपल्या
सग्यासोयर्‍यांनाही आपण बुडवलेलं असतं.

साखळी योजनांद्वारे लोकांना खूप मोठय़ा आर्थिक फायद्याचे आमिष दाखवून त्यांची फसवणूक होऊ नये म्हणून सरकारने १९७८ मध्ये अशा योजनांवर बंदी घातली आणि तशी बंदी प्रत्यक्षात प्रभावीपणाने अंमलात आणली जावी यासाठी Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act,१९७८ या नावाचा एक स्वतंत्र कायदाही केला. पण तरीही प्रत्यक्षात लोकांना ठगवण्यासाठी अशा योजना सुरूच असतात.
आता ही योजना पाहा. दोन हजार रुपये भरून योजनेत सहभागी व्हायचे. एक फॉर्म भरायचा. त्यावर आपला तपशील लिहायचा आणि तो कंपनीकडे पाठवायचा. कंपनी आपल्याला आणखी चार फॉर्म पाठवते. फॉर्म पाठवताना आपण दोन हजारांच्या ज्या रकमेची गुंतवणूक करायची आहे ती एकरकमी कंपनीकडे करायची नाही. आपली नोंदणी आपण ज्याच्या माध्यमातून करीत आहोत त्याच्याकडून आपल्याला एक यादी मिळेल. त्यातल्या पहिल्या टप्प्यावरच्या व्यक्तीला आपण पाचशे रुपये पाठवायचे. दुसर्‍या टप्प्यावरच्याला शंभर, तिसर्‍या टप्प्यावरच्याला दीडशे, चौथ्या टप्प्यावरच्याला दोनशे, पाचव्या टप्प्यावरच्याला दोनशेचाळीस आणि सहाव्या टप्प्यावरच्याला सहाशे साठ रुपये पाठवायचे. म्हणजे एकूण १८५0 रुपये आपण आपल्या अगोदरच्यांना पाठवायचे आणि उरलेले दीडशे रुपये कंपनीकडे पाठवायचे. बरे हे सगळे पैसे आपण डिमांड ड्राफ्टने पाठवायचे असतात. त्यामुळे सगळ्या पैशाचा हिशेब ठेवला जातो. सगळा रीतसर आणि उघडपणाने केलेला व्यवहार! निदान तसा आपला समज नक्कीच होतो.
या योजनेत आपण एकदा कंपनीच्या गळाला लागलो की, मग आपणही नवे नवे मासे शोधून त्यांना गळाला लावायचे असते. त्याशिवाय आपण गुंतवलेले दोन हजार रुपये परत मिळत नाहीत आणि आपल्याला अपेक्षित असणारा फायदाही मिळत नाही. आपण एकदा पहिले चार मासे गळाला लावले की, त्या चारांनी प्रत्येकी चार म्हणजे एकूण सोळा जणांना अडकवायचे असते. पुढच्या टप्प्यावर त्या सोळा जणांनी प्रत्येकी चार याप्रमाणे चौसष्ट लोकांना अडकवायचे असते. त्या चौसष्टांचे नंतर दोनशे छपन्न, त्यानंतर एक हजार चोवीस आणि सहाव्या टप्प्यावर चार हजार शहाण्णव लोक होतात. अशी साखळी विणली गेली, तर त्यात सहा स्टेजेसमध्ये मिळणारे पैसे कसे असतात, ते पाहा.
आपण दोन हजारांची रक्कम आणि जवळचे चार खटपटे साथीदार यांच्या साहाय्याने विणलेल्या जाळ्यात सहाव्या टप्प्यावर चक्क चार हजार शहाण्णव लोक अडकलेले असतात आणि त्यातून आपल्याला चक्क सत्तावीस लाख तीन हजार तीनशेसाठ रुपयांची प्राप्ती होते, यावर विश्‍वास बसणो कठीण जाते खरे; पण हे कोष्टकच सगळे काही स्पष्ट करीत असते. महत्त्वाचे म्हणजे यात प्रत्येकाला फक्त चार लोकांना शोधून काढून त्यांना सभासद म्हणून नोंदवायचे काम करायचे असते. ते तसे साधे आणि सोप्पे काम असते. गुंतवणूकही तशी फारशी नाही. फक्त दोन हजारांची. इतक्या कमी रकमेत आणि इतक्या कमी श्रमात अशक्य वाटणारा लाभ आपल्याला मिळत असतो. या तथाकथित कंपनीलासुद्धा फारसे श्रम न करता सहा लाख चौदा हजार चारशे रुपयांचा लाभ मिळू शकतो. ‘सर्वेपि सुखिना संतु’ ही आपल्या प्राचीन तत्त्वज्ञानाने मांडलेली भूमिका म्हणजे ‘सर्वांचे कल्याण होवो’, अशी सर्वसमावेशक स्वरूपाच्या विचारांची निदर्शक विचारप्रणाली आहे. कुणी जर या साखळीलाही तशा तात्त्विक चौकटीत बसवले, तर आश्‍चर्य वाटायचे कारण नाही. कंपनीला केवळ एका साखळीत इतका लाभ होतो. जर अशा काही शेकडो साखळ्या असतील, तर कंपनीच्या तिजोरीत किती रक्कम पडत असेल याची आपण कल्पना करू शकतो.
