Hi,

I had been a regular user of the Vodafone Postpaid corporate connection since May 2012. The service was fine with no problems at all. It was a postpaid connection. During July I activated the corporate GPRS plan for my internet usage.

It worked fine until I bought Samsung Galaxy s3 in July end. Vodafone activated 3G services on my number 9711554444 WITHOUT INFORMING ME. I DID NOT ASK THEM TO ACTIVATE THIS. I WAS HAPPY USING MY GPRS PLAN.

During some issue with my GPRS setting I clearly said the Vodafone representative that I will NOT PAY for any 3G services as I have NOT asked this service to be activated on my number.(This, I have repeatedly said in all my conversations to Vodafone representatives and can be verified in their call records)

Now all of sudden Vodafone stopped my outgoing calls around 24th October 2012 stating that I have exceeded my credit limit of 800\- INR. Vodafone have generated a bill of 7.2k INR and i am getting calls from local partners about payment, i refused saying that I did not ask Vodafone to activate this service on my number then why should I pay for this?
I also said I am only liable to pay for my Calling +SMS+ GPRS charges and NOT for the 3G services.

Yesterday, i get a call from someone saying that he’s a big lawyer from Delhi and he is waiting for a copy of arrest warrant but can help me if i cough up the unpaid bill which is 7.2k.The most important issue is that I dint receive any notice because am not in the address provided to VODAFONE at the time of getting connection.

It has really shocked me that Vodafone is looting money unnecessarily as the same is a corporate connection. Looking forward for an immediate reply.

  1. Same incident happened with me in Bangalore last year with Vodafone.I exchanged my IPhone with my wife’s blackberry.
    without asking to me they charged me 450 monthly rental as a BB services charge and they continuously charged even after I called many times to customer care to stop services.

    Its realy disgusting how any company activated any plain without any intimation to us and if same is done by the company by their own action then why should they (company) are asking for bill from us ( Consumer ),

    Just take an serious action against the company bro.Rasie your voice in consumer forum………………

    Same kind of issue happen with me also , I have purchase a New postpaid connection and it had issue. i have called customer care and ask to terminate the number as i did not want to use it due there service and extra changes they put on my number.

    and i have received numbers of call for bill and after stopping the services.

    Vodafone is complete china company…. few days back i purchased Iphone-5, i just insert my sim and they activated my 3 G without knowing me. and when i called customer care and they said that u have to pay for 1 month now as the plan is activated.
    I am in shock till now…..
    yeh to wohi baat hui……….

    One of my friend also faced same issue with VODAFONE last month. He’s getting threatening calls to pay the bill. The person on the other side say you are too small a person and cannot fight with this BIG Company. Not sure how would WE the common people deal with such kind situations.

    I STRONGLY APPEAL TO THE AUTHORITIES INCHARGE TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTION AGAINST “THE COMPANY-VODAFONE” SO THAT WE “THE COMMON PEOPLE” ARE NOT CHEATED.

    Also, we should take this matter to people of country through Facebook, Twitter, Orkut and other social sites to create awareness among the common people so that they are NOT CHEATED.

    Its not aceptable at all, how any company can do such silly things just to increase their revenue.

    We all should raise this kind of concerns in consumer forum.

    This is not acceptable being a customer….now we can’t even plan to buy an expensive phone coz Vodafone may activate any services without giving us a notification…

    Such companies should be penalised for making a fool out of their customers just to increase the revenue…

    I was also about to port my no. to Vodafone but after reading above stories. i will not be going Vodafone now.

    It’s really worst thing that without intimating the service activation to the customer how you can charge for a service.

    This is a lala company nw….

    I have been charged for using internet services, which I neither have activated nor I have used.The amount is rs.1500/-.I contacted a vodafone store at fatehgunj, vadodara and they are not registering my complain saying that their billing is valid.I have not activated gprs for vodafone which may please be noted.

    I have been overcharged for gprs services despite my several mails to know how to check the balance usage while in roaming there was no proper reply from them and finally my gprs usage limit exceeded above 2gb and they charged me hefty amount.They are big cheater. Never use their post-paid services. They will charge unnecessarily.There is no attention from senior employees despite several e-mails. Finally they blame on customer.

    I have 7 connections with me of Vodafone and I am afraid to see such comments, now it seems that I have to go back with any other provider for the same.VERY VERY POOR SERVICE FROM VODAFONE..HHHhuuuhhhhh 🙁

  13. I would like to bring one more incident with Vodafone , Last year when I moved to Hyderabad . I bought two corporate connections from Vodafone. Both connections had common bill . They set my credit limit 900 and discount other free usage they do adjust when they generates itemized bill.
    So because of GPRS usage every week I was reaching my credit limit and once I reached my credit limit they stop all services including SMS. When I called customer care they said to speak corparte care and corparte care was never replying my email so I had to pay bill and wait for adjustment later. Then Finaly I use portability and switched to Tata Docomo.

  14. I knew vodafone always use cheap tricks to loot money from customer. earlier we had 3 vodafone connections in my family but switch to Airtel now because of Vodafone this behaviour.they were activating features without any intimation and imposing charges.

    You have all my details with you.
    My email,alternate contact number,etc…..i am getting calls on my alternate number regarding the payment from your so called recovery agents which may be called as “GOONS” and NOW u want all these details again !!! So u see…it seems u r just doing the formalities….NOT SERIOUS ENOUGH FOR THE ISSUE RESOLUTION.

    CHECK UR DATABASE FOR MY DETAILS AND M SURE U WUD HAVE ENOUGH DETAILS TO CONTACT ME INSTEAD OF JUST TRYING TO PRETEND THAT UR SERIOUS ENOUGH REGARDING THIS ISSUE.

    why can’t vodafone incorporate information mechanism as idea cellular…idea sends sms alerts(plan,data usage,data balance etc)each time the usage.
    Guyz i am using idea 3g plan and i am recommending you all to go for it after going through above scenario….

  28. Vodafone activated unlimited 3G plan on my number without any request from me and without taking my consent. Now they are harassing me to pay the rental and have also disabled my other connection.

  29. Same happened to me also. Vodafone recovery agents or GOONs are calling to my friends and relatives and using abusive language.

    Vodafone did it to me too..

    They have send lot of messages when I took new postpaid connection. Accidentally I believe activated GPRS on my phone. I had credit limit of Rs. 1500/- but you won’t believe I received a outstanding amount of Rs. 4200/- . I don’t know what to do ? They have barred me from calling but however they didn’t deactivated their cash rich GPRS setting. I have two months old connection and I feel so stupid to switched to Vodafone from Airtel. One more month to go and will again go back to Airtel if they didn’t resolved the issue.

    Unhappy customer of vodafone .. felt cheated.
