Unethical billing of Airtel against postpaid no. 9831155108

Location/place: Kolkata

Name of company/service: Airtel

Respected Sir,

This refers to my grievance with the bill on 21/05/2013 on my Airtel Postpaid connection SBI CUG Plan 9831155108. In view of my grievance, I’ve sent emails to Airtel Nodal Officer of Kolkata on 27/05/2013 05:17pm & their customer care from 20/05/2013 from [email protected] but to my horror and more grievance, they haven’t replied till date except the auto-reply that I will get reply within 1 working day.

In short, I’m here quoting my problem. I have been using the 1GB Rs 98/- Promo pack since months, and generally restrict my usage within 1GB, and as I don’t want to incur a huge bill on the exceeded usage, I generally depend on their SMS alerts about the updates on my data usage. At around 6:55pm on 16/05/2013 I received on sms saying that I’ve used 1022MB of my 1024MB free data usage upto 00:27 hrs on 16/05/2013, after that I’ll be charged at 10P per 10KB. I was shocked with horror. The sms which was meant to be received at my end at 00:27 hrs reached 18hrs late, and I had already used data pack the whole day upto the time I got the sms without knowing that the free data pack is already over, thereby incurring a huge bill at no fault of my own. It is definitely the technical fault and lag on the part of Airtel, so I demanded the money (which is around 550/ including tax and s.charges) should be refunded to me (which was due to my usage on 16/05/2013 from upto 6:55pm from the end of my free data usage) after I got the bill of Rs. 898.54 when generally my bill stays around Rs.350/-(including tax n s.charge). Again to my dismay, none of them cared to reply. Neither the Nodal officer.

In view of the fact I would like to request the Consumer Court to please do something as this is practically cheating on the consumers. SMS alerts which are meant to alert the customers are definitely not meant to reach 18 hours late. And if this technical lag is on their part, they are definitely going to pay for it- not the customers. I don’t see any reason why consumers will bear the technical faults of Airtel.

Please, the Consumer Court, help me from this enethical and deceitful billing. You people are the only saviors of the individual customers from these unethical practices of billing huge amount and earning profit.

Thanking you

hi, I am Roushan Rathore, I am using Airtel Mobile, No. – 9782162671.
I saw a Roaming rate Cutter pakage on your website that Recharge with Rs. 35 and all incoming will be 30p/min during roaming (except J&k) & all outgoing will be 1.5p/sec.
I recharged my no. with Rs. 35 on 29th May 2013 and went outside in roaming on 30th May 2013. While roaming i noticed that even after recharging for Roaming rate cutter, airtel was deducting Rs 1 for incoming and Rs 1.5 for Outgoing which is normal (means even without any recharge they will charge the same amount).
On 30th May 2013 eve, i called to customer care exe of airtel & explain all the details to her, so at that time the Cust care exe told me that in rajasthan, Roaming rate cutter package is of Rs 33 not of Rs. 35.
In Rs 35 my all local & Std outgoing calls will become 60p/min on mobile & on Landline it will become Rs 1/min.
Before that i already had a plan activated on my mobile due to which all of my Outgoing calls (whether std or local) cost me Just 40p/min and even after this recharge of Rs. 35 my all calls were costing me Just 40p/min. I explain this thing to Cust Care exe but she did not respond in proper manner & disconnected the phone.
So when i came back to my home network on 7th June 2013, I made a call at 8 PM to cust care exe and explain all the things to them.
I talked with 3 different Cust care exe (every cust care exe transfer the call to their seniors) Named – Mukesh & Rajesh(Sr. Cust Care Exe).
I told them that do they think that any one will top up their mobile for increasing his outgoing cost from 40p/min to 60p/min and thats too that plan not activated on my no. So i simply told them to refund my Money in terms of Talktime to me, but they simply behave in rude manner and told that its not possible to return the money and disconnected the phone.
I was so upset with this kind of response from the cust care exe that i simple decided to switch over to some other telecom operator and instantly applied for MNP.

Its not about the Rs35, Its about the services. If the Top company in the telecom field will provide such kind of services then in that case there is chances that they will not able to retain that spot with them.
I am Porting my sim in Vodafone which has a greater customer satisfaction rate then Airtel.
I really never expected such kind of service from airtel thats too after being a loyal customer of Airtel for last 7 years.
