Shoddy repair of A.C. Unit

Location/place: Mmbai, Borivali (West)

Name of company/service: L G Electronics for repairs of A.C. unit

We had purchased 2 split AC units from LG around 2007. One of the unit has stopped functioning recently. A complaint was lodged with your customer care cell in response to which, the LG technician visited and checked the non-functional unit for repairs on the 19th July 2013. He inspected the unit and informed that the fan motor was jammed with dust and dirt and required a replacement. It is pertinent to note that he neither checked the motor insulation nor its free rotation. After he left, we turned the fan using our hand and it was rotating absolutely freely. Another technician returned the next day and brought an old & reconditioned motor wrapped in a plastic paper . He extracted one side ball bearing of the old motor and fitted the same in the motor brought by him. He realised the motor was of a different size and did not fit into the slot, but he forced the motor brought by him into the slot and fitted it somehow using extra rubber brushes. If the motor brought by him was a new one, than where was the necessity to change the ball bearing? Old motor is still with us and is not found jammed. Post this he tried starting the unit, but it was still not functional. Then he replaced the capacitor of the air conditioner, with a new capacitor bought from a local electrical shop nearby. Please note that the new capacitor brought was the capacitor of a celing fan and not of an air conditioner or the one from LG Electronics. Once, the capacitor was replaced he again tried starting the unit but the same did not work. Now to make the unit work, he cut the power supply wire in the fan unit of the air conditioner and connected the compressor and the fan in parallel. Due to this the unit started functioning, but the incompetent technician did not understand that when the required temperature is achieved the compressor switches off and because he made the fan parallel with the compressor even the fan switches off. The unit works for only 10 to 15 minutes & then stops. It does not start thereafter. The unit now lies in a completely non-functional state with its circuitry messed up, the capacitor changed with a poor quality incorrect capacitor and I believe a duplicate motor. The technician made a bill & collected Rs. 1650/- as repair charges from us. When the unit was found not functioning, the facts were immediately brought to the notice of your service centre. Another technician visited our home & observed wire connector disconnected which was informed by him to his workshop. He reconnected the connector & put the circuit back in normal form however, the unit did not start. He requested his workshop to send someone with knowledge of electrical circuits to diagonise the problem & left. After couple of days, subsequent to our repeated calls to service centre, another technician visited our home & informed us that the compressor is faulty. We informed him that the compressor starts when it was connected in parallel with the blower unit than how can it be defective? He refused to check any other system & left promising to return back the repair charges paid by us. So far nobody has bothered to visit our premises nor there is in information from service centre. Upon enquiry from service centre by us a very rude reply was given that the A.C. unit is fine & functional. We requested them to depute some one from their workshop to start the unit & show us if it is working in good condition. He refused to do anything in the matter.Presently the A.C. unit is dead & not working. We feel cheated by L G Electronics service centre.
We are utterly disappointed at the quality of service LG has provided and shocked at the kind of unqualified, illiterate and incompetent technicians a reputed international company like LG has employed.T
