Senior Citizens feeling cheated by one Ideal Cooling, 12 MB Road, Opp.E Block, Saket, Saidulajab Market, New Delhi-110030ers

We had got our cooler’s ducting changed from the firm mentioned in the post title vide their bill No. 306 dated 10.4.2012. Since it was very hot whatever charges they had asked were paid by us including Rs.1000 for changing pads of the cooler and Rs. 1000 for labor charges for fitting the ducting even though they were very high.

After giving us their said bill and taking an advance of Rs. 4000 against the total charges of Rs. 15000 on 10.4.2012 it was left to their labor and nobody came to supervise the work which was being done by the labor. The labor did not rectify the defects pointed out by us. When the proprietor of the firm came on 17.4.2012 to collect the balance amount of Rs.11000 the defects were pointed out to him but he did not hear any reasoning or logic and the cooler continued to provide hot air instead of cold one. He was interested only on receiving the balance amount of Rs. 11000 in cash only. He agreed, however, to take the payment through a bearer cheque which was given to him without allowing him to create any further scene by us being the senior citizens.

He had once sent a person who had taken some measurements but has so far not turned up despite reminders to the proprietor of the firm. We later came to know that we were also cheated by them because they had billed us more length of the ducting than required.

Since there was no response from him to our repeated requests and we were suffering due to very hot weather despite spending Rs. 15000 we sent him the following SMS (in expanded form) on 22.6.2012:

“I have been trying to contact you for long but you are not
responding. I had left a message also but in vain. I had not paid you Rs.15000 forgetting hot air. You have also not come or sent your man to look into the inconvenience we senior citizens are facing even after your charging more money than due. If you don’t take corrective measures immediately we may have to take recourse to consumer forum.”

Despite this there was no response from him. I therefore myself phoned him on 23.6.2012 to again persuade him to get the needful done. But he said he was not bothered about the consumer forum. According to him he knew how to deal with them. He, however, said that he would send his man after 2-3 days. Since I was more interested to prevent us from suffering from the scorching heat I agreed to wait for another 2-3 days. But he has not responded after that till today and we continue to suffer due to them even when the temperature is so high that even the schools are being closed.

I shall, therefore, request you to kindly have the matter looked ON PRIORITY so that we the senior citizens may get whatever is due to us and do not suffer any further in this scorching heat despite the firm charging more from us than was required in an apparent fraudulent manner. We also need to be compensated for the suffering and inconvenience we have faced during these about two months due to the indifference attitude of the firm after receiving the demanded full payment.
