Rip off by Airtel

Location/place: Faridabad

Name of company/service: Airtel

My saga of harassment and fleecing by Airtel is summarized as below :-

· Got landline with broadband connection in Apr¿ 11 as per plan 250. No
telephone / modem provided by Airtel

· Apr¿12 my plan changed to monthly rental of Rs 899 without any prior
intimation to me or any request / confirmation from my side

· After much follow-up, Airtel gives discount @550 for Apr and May ¿12
ie Rs 1100/- and again bills me as per forced upon plan of Rs 899/- pm

· My request to resolve the issue and till then bill me as per my
original plan of Rs 250/- pm and post that if my existing plan is withdrawn
then my new plan may be changed to 799 ignored.

· Airtel discontinues my internet connection and calls outgoing
facility on 2-7-12 till 28-7-12 and daily harassment on phone started. Airtel
on bill dated 12-7-2012 has audacity to bill me at the forced down plan of Rs
899/- for period from 2-7-12 to 10-7-12 at full rate even though internet and
outgoing call facility was not provided.

· To save guard myself and family members from daily harassing calls
from Airtel paid Rs 2559.20 on 31-7-12 – clearing all my forced upon
outstanding amount.

My request are as below :-

· Bill me as per original plan of Rs 250 pm and if that is withdrawn by
the company, change my plan to 799 but till that time original plan of 250
should be valid.

· Since no telephone set / modem was provided for plan 250, now that my
plan is changed to 899 these things should be provided, as Airtel would do for
this those opting for 899 plan.

· Reverse the charges for the period from 2-7-12 to 28-7-12 during
which services were withdrawn by Airtel.

Larger issue that needs review/resolution :-

· Is it justified to increase the plan by more than 3 times the
original plan ?

· What should be fair increase for similar features in revised plan ?

· How many more customers have been harassed and fleeced by Airtel by
changing their plans without proper intimation/consent/right to make informed
decision ?

take up the matter with Consumer Forum
