Today I had supper at Pizza Hut, Salt Lake City Center Branch. We ordered a combo offer for Rs.129. Now, they charged 10% Service Charge on the cost of food i.e. (129*10%)= Rs. 12.90. Again they charged me another tax, i.e. 14.5% VAT on the sub total(129+12.90=
141.9). Not only that, they again took another 4.95% service tax on that sub total. So finally it rounded off to Rs. 170( 169.50 further rounded to 170.00). Now my question is whether anyone can charge VAT on service charge or not? Secondly, whether they have charged me some extra taxes which can be ignored?
