I bought a Visa Card for $3.00 at a grocery store (QFC) and gave some cash to the teller to “put some money on it.” I called the phone number on the card to activate the card, and gave my personal information and then they sent me a “Personalized Card.” I logged into their website at http://www.kpfprepaid.com which ended up at https://www2.consumercardaccess.com where I created my account with a user name and a password.
I found in the legal papers that came with the Personalized Card that there is a $3.00 per month charge which means I was never told about the $3.00 per month charge, nor was this information on the package I bought originally.
I would tell it like this: Kroger Pre-Paid Visa and other cards are stealing consumer’s money by not clearly informing them that there will be a monthly fee for having the account.
Since I was doing this for research, I am upset that I wasted $3.00 and also that I might get charged for one month at $3.00. I hate this way of treating customers and hope this post will inform you before you buy one of these.
PRE PAID VISA CARDS CHARGE A MONTHLY FEE JUST TO HAVE THE ACCOUNT, AND THEY DO NOT TELL YOU UPFRONT OF THIS CHARGE.
