I’m a subscriber of Airtel Broadband service. My plan was 2Mbps Combo 777 plan. However, Airtel abruptly changed the plan from Jab 26th, 2012 billing cycle to Alpha 6GB plan, without informing me.
Among other things, this plan downgrades my broadband speed to 256Kbps after the usage limit is hit, which does not suit me at all.
I called Airtel today and requested them to restore my previous plan which they declined to do. Nor are they willing to offer an alternative plan that does not downgrade the speed.
My experience from dealing with Airtel customer service regarding this issue has been horrible. after prolonged conversation spanning multiple phone call, I was told to register for the Smart Bytes service and the officer promised a discount for Smart Bytes subscription too. However, I could not subscribe to this service online and after calling them again, I came to know that this service is not available for my plan!
Airtel, once known for its splendid customer service, is now suffering from multiple organ failure. It seems, their customer service persons get paid to irritate the customers.
What a sad downfall!
