Hello,
I am Apurba Sen, a freelance journalist living alone in the city. I ad been using Docomo prepaid services on my number 09681015312 happily for over three years. A representative from Docomo, Mr Subhojit Sarkar kept calling me a lot in the months of Oct and November 2012 until he offered a postpaid plan of 299/- per month on which the first two months the Tata to Tata std bill was free. He pestered me continuously until I decided to change to postpaid on the belief that the rental plan will not cost me more than my current pre -paid bills.
He sent over a representative who after giving me the postpaid sim card, got my signature on a standard pre paid to postpaid form. Mr. Abhijit Das anotehr senior representative called me to confirm my decision and he confirmed the rental plan as mentioned earlier, which put my mind to ease.
However, at the end of the first month, even after repeated complaints on customer service no e-bills, written bills or sms were sent to me regarding my first bill. In the middle of the second month I was sent to conflicting sms that the bill amount was 595 INR and another that the bill amount was 825 INR respectively..all in the space of 4 days. My outgoing was stopped temporarily and since it was my professional number, I had to pay te amount to get my service opened. However, at the end of the second month, that is just 10 days from my first payment of bill, the sms came that my bill amount was 1767 INR. I refused to pay at which point my number was completely disconnected within the next 4 days. however, after that point I have been receiving bills that show my bill amount is now 2250 INR and so forth.
1)I have complained several times on the Tata Docomo website to no avail. One of the representatives recently called me on an alternate number and proposed that I should pay at least 2000 INR to settle the bill. When I told him that I was told a 299 rental and never got to pay that amount , so I would like to settle on just that amount and nothing more, even though I had to bear consider troubles in my professional field due to this atrocity, He laughingly suggested that I should think that since I cannot prove anything and I do not have my parents living with me, I should think about what is safe for me and just pay up.
2) Now, I want to know, what kind of extremely sorry excuse for a customer support does Docomo have that it treats customer in this manner. I have been resilient so far, but Now I want to know the exact format to appeal through proper consumer court redressal commission for west bengal.
3) I also want to post this complaint and the story in as many forums, papers and online portals that I am associated with.
4) I request any official Dococmo representative to understand, that I had not been interested in going post paid at all, in fact, it was on your agent’s plaintive cry for commission target and continuous on phone harassment that I had to change. I also want the pompous member who asked me to think how to prove myself in court and blatantly suggested to think about my living alone in the city, I want to apply for a formal complaint, so that the court asks you to turn over all records associated with the 9681015312 (pre- paid and post paid).
5) I also want to know that if I receive any such threatening calls from a Docomo representative again, Am I allowed to lodge and official Police complaint, on the grounds that I am not safe. I have requested my parents to move in with me, because I was quite uneasy after such phone calls from the company.
