I would like to inform you that I, Alice Charikar departed from India to Israel on 9th june. On arrival at Mumbai airport in India on the 28th July 2012 one of my baggage was badly damaged, and the other baggage was delayed (missing). I had lodged a complaint with the authorities of one bag missing and the other damaged.

1) the damages have not been referred to the delivery agent (pl see point 2)
2) no the damage details are not mentioned on the challan, but we have mentioned on the challan that the contents are not verified. the delivery agent told us that you have to contact the airport authorities for the damage and therefore there was no question of reporting it to him.
3) we have contacted the insurance company but were informed that delayed baggage where India is the destination and missing contents of bag are not covered. please refer to the email copies attached.

Details of missing items/damaged items are as given below:
a) Bag no.1:
one of our bags arrived with us but had a broken lock and handle and was badly scratched. the bag cost around 5000 rs
the items missing are:
-wedding silk saree: 10000 rs
-zari saree: 18000 rs
-3 pants(mistakenly mentioned as panties) and 5 t-shirts: 11000 rs
-2 scent bottles: 4000 rs
-a gift pack containing items used for religious ceremonies: 3500 rs
the total is 51500 rs for Bag 1
b)Bag no.2: the second bag arrived 5 days late on 1st august 2012.
Several of my clothes are damaged due to melting of chocolates, sweets and dry fruits(eg:dates) which deteriorated and leaked from their packets.
Because of the bag being delivered late, my clothes had to be sent for dry cleaning and some disposed of since they were badly damaged. Had my bag come on the airline with me, none of this would have happened.
– chocolates, sweets and dry fruits costing around: 5000 rs
– dry cleaning costs around: 1000 rs
– disposed clothes- 6000 rs
the total is 12000 rs
Gross total of bag no.1 and bag no.2 is 63500 rs
my insurance company is bajaj allianz general insurance company. Ref No:Y, Policy N0. OG-13-1901-9910-00008196, Policy period from 9th june 2012 to 7th august 2012 or date of return of insured.
