1. im a serving defence officer in indian army and i own a toyota innova 2.5 v purchased on 21 jan 2010. the vehicle has done a total of 47000 kms till date. the veh regd number is CH01AA-9470..and my contact number is 9779064771.
Complaint..
2. while recently on 29 jan 2013, driving on yamuna expressway from jhansi ,where im posted in army at present, to chandigarh, my veh lost its drive while cruising at 120kms suddenly. the vehicle came to a stop at a place 70 kms from agra on the expressway. initially i had to beg the 24/7 helpline rotadside assistance to help me out for towing the vehicle back to nearest dealer ie sunny toyota in agra. i was told very curtly that it cannot be done as roadside asst is available foe customers who bought the veh after apr 2010 by one mr naim in ur call centre. i had to call up IG agra police who happened to be my realtive and call local SHO police as well fro security. finally at abt 1145pm in night the towing veh came from sunny totyota and my veh was taken to showroom at 3 am on 30 jan.
3. the veh was inspected after opening the clutch and gear box the morning next and it was discovered that my gear box had seized up totally due only abt half liter oil inside against the auth 2.5 ltrs. the complete driving and driven shaft bearings had melted and there was no drive from engine on to the gear box. i was very shocked to see the state of my vehicle and it took me some time to understand the massive damage inside the gear box. on being asked i produced all papers of correct servicing schedule till 45000kms tht i have followed. in fact if u check my record, u will realise tht i have been a regular cutomer at exact durations of servicing schedules at either castle toyota jalandar or pioneer motors chandigarh. In fact i have been rigourously following the servicing schedules always as i have a car rally driver and know wht veh maint means. i was told that my vehicle is out of warranty by 8 days for gear box and that i have to pay the damage which is estimated at about 75000 rupees. now i know three is a periodic check on gear box at 40000kms and gear oil change at 80000. my point is that if i have taken my vehicle at correct time at all intervals and i have been told all is ok then how did my gear oil reduce levels to extent tht my gear box was practically running dry. on opening by the technicians at sunny toyota,, they have seen there is no damage to gear box,, no leaks from the drain nut and no leakage from anywhere. in fact they commended me on my maint and neatness of vehicle which is rare as they said. now sir tell me if i have followed all schedules and servicing regularly,, how as a cutomer do i knw if my gear box had less oil or is about to seize.
4. sir i therfore want this case study to be seen by your senior tech advisors and after scrutinising my records,,, the company should treat it as material failure and fit new part without any cost to me.
5. I have been an honest and good customer to the extent of changing my clutch plate at 40000 kms on advice of the dealer as he told me tht my veh has more than normal sound. On replacing,, i discovered my previous clutch plate was in a pretty good condition and it really didnt need a replacement,, yet i accepted the recommendation and had it changed. now suddenly im being asked to pay 75K for a gear box that has failed for no reason. in fact oil level in gear box is never checked till 80000kms so is it that my vehicle was supplied to me with less oil in gear box to start with. also if u see,, even with three years running,, my vehicle has run only 47000 kms so its not that the vehicle has been running a lot. the warranty on gear box was valid upto 21 jan and i have exceeeded the time by 8 days only. now u cant expect me to be paying for a material failure within 8 days of warranty expiring that too when i have been correct in following all periodic maint schedules.,
6. Im really looking fwd to an early resolution to the case as i have been called on 5 to take the vehicle from sunny toyota.
PS: the FI report filed by the sunny toyota people will substantiate what i have written in this mail.. kindly revert back fast
