LABELS/PRODUCT INFO IN ARABIC, SOLD IN INDIAN RETAIL STORES ALL OVER

Location/place: Bangalore

Name of company/service: RELISH SNACKS PRIVATE LIMITED/SNACKS MANUFACTURER

I recently bought a pack of Butterscotch flavored Peanut snack packet manufactured by RELISH SNACKSPRIVATE LIMITED, 15 E Brindavan Nagar Extension, Valasaravakkam, Chennai 600 087 (www.relishsnacks.com.

(Product info: PEANUT CHIKKIS- Butterscotch – Batch No-10/ Net wt- 50 gms Date of Mfg- 10/04/12)

The labeling was in English and ARABIC. This also includes the nutritional information provided on the outer packaging. Products with foreign language labeling meant for export need to be sold in relevant markets and not locally. Aren’t there any guidelines for product (food related) labeling requirements? Immediate action should be taken to rectify this. No one here reads Arabic labels while buying food articles.
