Kotak Bank fined 2,089.11 INR on my salary account and intimated me about this after 3 days.

Name of company/service: Kotak Mahindra Bank

I had a salary account with Kotak that was opened on Nov-2010, during that time I was offered zero balance facility and free gold card. Because of some issue with the transaction services, I moved my Salary account to HDFC 3 months back. I withdrawn all my money from Kotak account and made the balance zero. On 3rd Jan 2013 I received a mail saying that as my salary is not getting credited to my Kotak account, they have with drawn the zero balance facility and they are going to charge me for not maintaining a minimum balance of 10000 henceforth. 2 days back when I saw my kotak account statement. I was shocked. Kotak bank have fined me a sum of 2,089.11 INR on 30th of Dec 2012 itself with out prior notice. A bank should intimate the customer for any charges they are going to put on customer. They have charged in the name of “User Lien.” I don’t understand what is that means. I believe, Bank is good at cheating their customer with fines.

I believe Kotak bank is in a good plan to first fine the customer with heavy amount and than inform them after 3 days saying that, I am going to fine you for not crediting your salary. By that time, the consumer have no option to credit the necessary minimum account balance.
