Insects and Silk Threads in served food

Location/place: Village Achad, MH-GUJ Border, Dist: Thane

Name of company/service: Hotel Sahyadri – Narvekar & Sons

Dear Sir / Madam,

I would like to report couple incidents that took place due to gross negligence by the management staff of Hotel Sahyadri, on Mh- GUJ highway.
Details of the same are enclosed below.

Date: 11/08/2012

Place:
Hotel Sahyadri – Narvekar & Sons (Eating Establishment)

Address:
Village Achad, MH-GUJ Border, Dist: Thane

Incident 1:

Subject: Silk Threads served along with Ice Cubes.

Details:

Ice cubes served with a drink had at least two (2) silk threads each about 1.0 cm long. These threads were noticed floating in the glass just before the drink was to be consumed. Same negligence from the hotel staff was bought to the notice of asst. manager on the floor who adamantly had to re issue the order.

Incident 2:

Subject: Mosquito was found in lemon juice.

Details:

During the same sitting just 5 minutes after Incident 1, a mosquito was found in lemon juice. This was again noticed by the person consuming it.

On letting the hotel management know about the same, the hotel staff was adamant and termed it as a freak accident which even though was in their premises however was out of their control.
Adding to this, on inquiring about pest control measures the hotel staff had the audacity to say that the same was not needed as per the FDA guidelines and insects found in food served by them were not their responsibility as the insect was noticed after the food item came out of their kitchen.

On my repeated persistence, the hotel manager intervened and accepted that it was an error from their end which could have been Life Threatening.
I have the complete account hand written by the assistant manager of the hotel on their bill book, admitting that the above mentioned incidents occurred in their premises.

Lastly, I am writing this note in interest of all travellers so that we can try and control such negligent, rules flouting behaviour of hotel owners looting our hard earned money and serving food not fit for consumption.
I would be grateful if you could take this issue at the earliest.

Regards,

Hitesh Rathod
