Incorrect Amount being charged by Service Provider against SMS to invalid number

Location/place: Jaipur

Name of company/service: Vodafone

I am an existing Vodaphone customer from Jaipur(Rajasthan) with mobile number 09828283772

This is to bring to your notice the discrepancy in the bill amount that has been shown in the bill for Vodaphone number

As per the bill details for this month Rs. 2138 has been charged against SMS charges and the details shown in the bill indicates SMS sent to an unknown number which is infact an invalid number.
You can cross verify by calling on the number: 08527121333 to which SMS is being shown to have been sent.

This number is not known to me and doesn’t exist in my phonebook either there by removing any chance of SMS’s being sent by mistake either.Neither are the SMS present in Sent Items on my phone.

I have tried calling customer care and have even been to Vodafone store but not of much help. They are not willing to get this investigated.
This looks like some technical flaw in the network because of which SMS events have been recorded and incorrect charges have been levied.Hence I should not be required to pay the amount against the SMS.

Request you to get this investigated on priority and get the charges reverted at the earliest by taking up the matter with the Service Provider.

  1. Hello Rakesh,

Please note that the charges are valid. Thus, we will not be able to reverse the charges.

1- I have received a massage on 11-Jun-12 from Vodafone about “your credit limit is exceed” I was shocked because at that time my actual bill was around Rs. 250-300/- only. I immediately called the customer care to know the reason; they said that after bill generation you’ll get the update.

2- When I received my bill and the bill was showing 1014 (ONE THOUSAND FORTEEN) massages (massages charges Rs. 1522/-) which was sent within an hour, (a massage in 3 seconds) and all the massages are sent to one mobile no. (+918527121333), which I have not sent, even I don’t know anything about this number. When I called up on that number, I got to know that this number does not exist. After this my outgoing and incoming were stopped.

3- I visited Vodafone Store, Vashali Nagar for this concern and there I met with Vodafone representative he told me that charges are correct. However, I told him that I didn’t send any msg on that number. When I did not get any response from the customer care then I called up the Nodal Officer Mr. Sai Kumar (Mob is 9828096211) in the last week of June’12 (may be on 25th or 26th) but some lady (Ms. Dipika) picked up the call and she assured me that my complaint will be resolved by 2nd July’12. When I called up on 2nd July to get the status, they said that they are working on it. They just kept me confused by saying we are working on it and we’ll get back to you with solution. I keep on following with them for around 2 months and the result was NIL. However I have paid the used amount (actual bill amount) to Vodafone on time but still my services are not continuing.

4- I’m continuously receiving bills from Vodafone every month with minimum charges/rental, though they disconnected my services. I’m not using this number anymore because of this issue.

    • I would like to ask:-
1- Why Vodafone representative and Nodal officer do not response properly?
2- If Vodafone have problem in their software or any technical issue then why should the end user suffer?
3- Rs. 1522+188/-(SMS charges+S.Tax) of amount which is wrongly billed, why after so many requests and follow-ups it has not been rectified?

    • My expectation from Vodafone
1- Waive-off Rs. 1522+188/-(charges+S.Tax) because it’s not my fault. Nobody sent 1014 massages from my mobile and partially it is not possible to send a msg in every 3 second continuously. For this Vodafone is totally responsible.
2- Whatever I wrote above is correct and I have all the proofs with me of calls made to Customer Care and Nodal Officer. I would request Vodafone to start my services because they have barred my outgoing & incoming from 9th July 2012 and I am suffering huge losses due to this.
