Inappropriate charges levied by Airtel for Internet usage while I opted for unlimited internet plan

Location/place: Pune

Name of company/service: Airtel

Hello,

My friend have just bought a new Airtel postpaid corporate connection plan (monthly rental Rs.149/-) and Airtel number is 8600807797.

I would like to bring to your notice that on 28th January, 2013 she had conversation on customer care number to activate internet 2G unlimited plan of amount Rs. 149/-. As per that person, who was attending the call, plan was successfully activated and in 3-4 hours she will be able to use it. She enquired if some confirmation is expected from Airtel regarding activation, but customer care person replied that nothing is required and it activates within 4 hours time. After 5-6 hours she tried to set some manual configuration which customer care person told her and Internet started working. Keeping in mind that the plan is unlimited she has still tracked her data usage using an app “My data usage“ It’s just been 2 days she have used internet and it has hardly reached some MB. In-spite of having free unlimited plan worth Rs. 149, today morning she has got a message from Airtel saying that she need to pay an unusual amount of Rs. 1040 to continue her services!

Its requested that you please look into this matter seriously as this is unfair means of making money from normal people. This was the first time she switched to Airtel postpaid and in 3-4 days she is facing these kind of issues. If correct measures will not be taken regarding this matter then unfortunately I will have stop any more relationship with Airtel. She has been using Airtel prepaid connection from 6-7 years but never thought this sad drama will be created once switched to Postpaid.

Also, please make a note that this morning I have tried few times logging a complaint on 121 and rather talking to your customer care people but after listening to all this they did not reply for anything and just cut the call. I wish Airtel customer care was actually a “Customer” “Care” .

Hope to hear from you something positive very soon.

Regards,
Shashank Nirmal
