Sir,
I would like to bring to the notice of authorities the pathetic situation of Sabarimala shrine from Holy Pamaba to Sannidanam, Lord Shree Ayappa Temple is a renowned temple in south india where Crores of people visit the temple during mandala kalam and Makara vilakku(Jyothi) for the blessing of Lord ayyappa .
2. As every one awares, every day income of this temple is beyond two-three crore rupees but facilities provided to the devotees of Lord Shree Ayyappa who visiting the temple is little. The shrine which commence in the beginning of November and ends up in the middle of January 15 with Makara Jyothi every year, is a night mare for devotees even though the devotees trek the mountains dedicating all miseries upon Shri Ayyappa.
3. During the season water level of holy pamba river where Shri ayyappa devotees take holy bath become very low due to summer season and it being turned to just like stagnant water pond because of up and down of river at Pamba base is hurdled by weir. The bank of river where devotees laying their shelter is not made Hygienic , sanitized well and not made required cleaning measures by sweepers , piles of slums leaving by devotees can see here and there at pamba base. In the river Pmba , dumps of used clothes and decayed clothes left by devotees are floating in the water and stuck with river banks. As the water is not flowing to down ward considerably at all and lakhs of devotees taking bath leaving their leavings in the water, the place where devotees taking bath totally contaminated and susceptible to water borne diseases and the water turned to deep black with mosquitoes breeding just like drainage water. If something measures must not be taken to clean the water either by filtering or by making current to down ward by Sabarimala Devaswam Board , It will make serious health hazards to devotees.
4. The en-route Pamaba to Sannidanam at which Lord Shri Ayyappa give blessing to devotees, has no adequate basic amenities like urine shed and Latrines to full fill the devotees ‘ nature’s calls and drinking water. All devotees are carry out their passing urine either sides of trekking path where through the devotees trek to Sannidanam. And both sides of the trekking path were soaked with urine, whose foul smell penetrate the devotee’s nose.
5. In case of un controllable crowd just like yester day ie on 30th Dec 2012 due to opening up after 3 days of closing shrine could be a great miseries for devotees came with little children for blessings of Lord Shri Ayyappa. They , who had to spent 14 hrs more on queue from Pamba to Sannidanandam , laid their bed sheets on the soaked soil with urine to take rest for their children .
6. In case of any stampede during trekking, by fearing wild animals or any other calamities just like tragedy occurred at Pulmedu two years back in which hundreds of devotees died and injured, there is no adequate security forces and measures to handle the situation. The same situation is faced aswell as witnessed my self on 30th Dec 2012 at the place Marakkuttam, a rendezvous, where devotees stuck with 10 hours en route. Stampede of thousands of people was could not only be managed by the only three security personnel including a sub Inspector and I was also trapped with my two children who totally exhausted in queue without water and food for them. During these 10 hours I had to keep my two young children on our shoulders. The situation at Sannidanandam too has no change. I don’t understand why the Sabarimala Dewaswam Board neglects to redress the agonies of devotees by making proper urine sheds ,Latrines, clean water for taking bath at Pamba and provision of drinking water and food for devotees and provision for smooth darsanam(vision) of Shri Ayyappa. In case of recurrence of long queue which hours more time, Sabarimala Dewaswam Board should make privileges on either sides of mountainous trekking path.
If eyes of Sabarimala Dewaswam Board is not opened to rectify these things, common public should come forward and make action counsel to full fill these short comings . Our judiciary can also give ultimatum to responsible authorities to ensure necessary privileges to devotees.
