I recently bought an Asus Zenphone 5 A501CG from Flipkart. Asus had proudly advertised that it uses a Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which is known for its durability is touted to be shatter proof. But we found out the bitter truth about it recently when it accidentally fell down on the floor and the glass shattered into pieces. the only thing holding the glass together is the scratch guard on it. Now, i agree that the fall was from about shoulder height, but it is Gorilla Glass 3 for God’s sakes. I have a Nexus 5 which uses Gorilla Glass 2 and has fell more times and from higher locations leading only to scratches on the scratch guard. I genuinely doubt whether Asus has used Gorilla Glass 3 or are just taking their customers for a ride. And replacing the screen costs about Rs. 4.5k. This is blatant thievery.
