Demanding payment for services not rendered

Location/place: New Delhi

Name of company/service: bharti airtel limited

This is with reference to My Airtel broad band account no. 7005427229. Which I had gotten put in January 2012 had been a regular consumer until June 2012. This is when with the next billing cycle our Internet stopped working. this was followed by numerous calls to the Airtel customer care center which would never reach the customer care executive on most occasions and when it did they were either disconnected midway or met with stalling tactics. On more than one occassion I was told that the network was down or being upgraded and hence they could not help us with our problem. Finally i decided to go to an Airtel Service centre so I could get my Connection disconnected where i was told that I can only do it by calling the customer care. Finally after almost a month without the services and numerous phone calls to the customer care helpline I was able to get hold of a customer care executive and place my request for a disconnection. This was followed by more than a week of incessasant calls from the Airtel executives asking me to reconsider getting my connection discontinued and also that I’d be offered a discount and the rent for the month i didn’t recieve the services would be foregone. But having experienced their less than satisfactory services I decided to persist and finally got my services disconnected after clearing out my dues for all the months that i did recieve and used the services.
Now I have recieved a somewhat legal looking notice from A law firm claiming to be representing Airtel to pay the outstanding for the month where they had not provided any services which cab easily be proved by checking the data usage for the month in question. the notice threatens with both criminal and civil action. beside the unethical nature of the notice by demanding payment for services not provided using threatening tactics seems criminal in it’s own right. kindly look into the matter and do the needful
the detail of the notice are as follows: M J and company(law Firm) , bengali, market. Notice no.BAL/DE/10-2012/1568 SIGNED BY Manoj Jain(advocate)
