Delay and Harrasment in Loan Processing

Hi,

I have taken a home loan from HDFC and currently I realize that it is the worst decision of my life. The processing of loan have taken more than 3 months and I have received only HARASSMENT, BAD BEHAVIOR, LOTS of LIE and DELAY from HDFC. I would like to indicate two names [GOURAV BISWAS (Sales Executive)] and [SUPRATIM from salt lake, Kolkata disbursement office] who are majorly responsible for this. I am summarizing the complains in bullet point below.
> HDFC has given a stall in my office in Nov, 2014 for various loan offer, as our salary account is with HDFC bank.
> They have taken my contact knowing that I have a requirement for home loan.
> They keep bugging me over phone and insisted to take the loan from them. Also made lots of false promises to provide extra facility.
> I have decided to take loan from HDFC (biggest mistake of my life till date), in Nov 2014 and applied for the same.
> My loan was approved on 3rd Dec, 2014.
> HDFC executive Gaurab Biswas was supposed to collect property related documents from builder for project approval.
> He promised to come to the project location, kept us (Builder / Myself) waiting for the whole day twice and didn’t show up.
> Finally he was kind enough to come to the venue on 19th Dec to collect the documents.
> After submitting the documents, I was following up with him through out December, 2014 and every time he updated me that processing is going on.
> From January 2015 onward he stop picking up my calls. Even if he picks up my phone once in a blue moon, he just promised to call back and never call back again actually.
> I have requested him to provide contact HDFC Legal department so that I can follow up for project approval directly. But he told me that they are high level people and won’t have time to entertain retail customer like us.
> By the end of January I got fed up with him and tried searching for contact of legal department myself.
> Finally I got contact of Arnab Chatterjee from legal department, Kolkata and asked him about the progress of project approval. I was shocked to hear the answer that legal department haven’t received my file even after one month.
> I explained him everything that was happened by that time and he suggested me to raise a official complain for this, against Gourab Biswas.
> I raised the complain in HDFC bank website which was later on forwarded to HDFC LTD.
> I got a call from Amit Roy (Operation Head, Kolkata) and he told me that my file was forwarded to legal department on 30th Jan, 2015 and he promised to take step against my complain. I am NOT sure, if any step were taken at all.
> After few days, I got a call from Gaurav Biswas, where he instructed me, about what I should reply, if I got a call from HDFC regarding my complain. I was quite surprised to hear that. However I never received any further call or any other communication for my complain.
> At the starting of February, we (Builder) were called at HDFC office in Kolkata to show original property document.
> After that, we came to know few more documents were required and it was executive Gaurav Biswas’s duty to collect and submit those documents.
> I couldn’t rely on him anymore and traveled twice more to the HDFC office personally to submit those documents, sacrificing my office work.
> After project approval was done, I was called for submitting my original document for disbursement.
> I went to disbursement office at Salt Lake, Kolkata at 2.45PM and no one was there at the desk to collect the documents. Other peoples were also waiting in queue.
> After waiting for 45 minutes, HDFC associates finally showed up at 3.30 PM.
> I was sent to Mr. Supratim who have extremely misbehaved with me. He literally thrown away my bank statement on my face saying this is not sufficient and ordered me to get that stamped from my bank, argued with me in a very bad tone / attitude, talked to me with his finger pointing at me etc. I said I will be raising a complain for this, and he replied “you can do whatever you want to, I don’t care about your complain.”
> After this finally the date of disbursement / registration was finalized and I was asked to go to head office again, along with original id / address proof on the morning of day of registration.
> Mr. Supratim confirmed twice that bank account passbook would be sufficient for address proof of co-applicant (my wife).
> I got a mail from Radha Chatterjee from disbursement office with list of documents I need to carry on the day of registration.
> It was mentioned in the mail that I need to carry bank statement print out stamped by bank as address proof of my wife.
> I have called Supratim again and he confirmed original passbook will do.
> I replied to Radha’s email, but I guess no one bothered to check my email.
> On the day of registration, I went to head office and the person who was checking my document said passbook won’t be sufficient because it don’t have photograph. I have shown PAN card and Passport of my wife as photo proof but they didn’t accept.
> I called Supratim and as expected he again misbehaved with me. He said it’s a common sense to carry a passbook with photo as its a KYC. I told him, you should have mentioned that earlier and explained him that I am already carrying 2 photo ID, but he simply insulted me saying “if you don’t know this much, I can’t do anything, its all your fault” etc, and disconnect the phone.
> I went out to search for my bank in that area (Central Kolkata) at 11.30 AM, having fever and cough while the temperature was 34 C.
> While taking out statement from bank, I called HDFC office saying please keep everything else ready and I will get back with statement soon.
> While I went back to head office, as expected they didn’t kept everything ready. It took 15-20 min more just to get the PEMI amount for which I was supposed to provide a cheque separately.
> After that I had to rush like anything to registration office and reached there just by the closing time.

Till now I am trying to understand how the passbook and bank statement is different as both of them doesn’t have photograph and both of them have original bank seal and signature. But one of them was accepted as address proof and another wasn’t.
I understand that HDFC is a big organization dealing with large scale customers with high volume of money. Compared to that a single customer with relatively small amount of money transaction is not so important for the organization. But I would still request you take action on this.

Thanks,
Soumya
