My brother-in-law Shri Santanu Dev of D/8, Baghajotin, Jadavpur, Kolkata – 700 032 purchased a Voltas make 1.5 ton Air Conditioner on 10.5.2011 from M/s Sales Emporium, 145/B, Garia Main Road, Kolkata – 700 084. Since purchase the AC was not giving proper cooling effect and while running some bad smells were coming out. This was brought to the notice of the service engineers during their visits. It was informed that the smells are due to burning of agarbati in the room and the cooling effect of the AC though less but are working fine. The last servicing was done during March, 2012. As free servicing period was upto May, 2012 it was informed by them that it appears there are some problems with the AC and they may take a decision to take the machine back and replace it. Since May, 2012 first week, the AC is not giving any cooling effect at all. This was also informed to the franchise(M/s. R B Enterprises, Telephone No. 033-65115912 and 033-23116135). They did not attend to the complaint till 25.5.2012. On getting the information regarding the Voltas Help line No. 18004254555 the complaint was lodged vide No. 12JU0102829. On 2nd June, 2012, representative of M/s. RB Enterprises inspected the AC after taking the inspection charge of Rs.400/-. After inspection, they have informed that there are no gas left in the AC and requires filling. They have also informed that estimate will be given through the office and after paying the required charges the AC repair will be undertaken. Till date, no estimate is received from the franchise. In fact, they are not responding over telephone. It appears that they have supplied a defective AC to my brother-in-law. Through this forum, we would like to bring it to the notice of the manufacturer the harassment being faced by customer due to no fault of theirs.
