Credit Card Application

Location/place: Bangalore

Name of company/service: Standard Chartered Bank

I had applied for a ‘Super Value Titanium’ credit card from Standard Chartered Bank in November. The executive had arrived to collect the details only after 15 days of constant complaints to the customer care. He collected all the documents from me and I was assured that I would be receiving the card in 21 days.
After more than a month, I neither received the credit card nor did I receive any communication from the bank regarding the same. I repeatedly called the customer care with my reference number (FUJ0717BPM) and they kept saying that the application was under process and that the card would be delivered to me soon. Nothing happened.
So I decided to re-apply for the card. Once again, the executive had to collect the documents and assured that the card would arrive in 21 days. After a week, I checked my application status on the website of the bank, and it was mentioned that they were “unable to process the application”.
I called the customer care to enquire regarding this, with my reference number (FWC9288BPB01) and I was told to send a mail to [email protected]. I sent a mail, questioning the bank’s decision and I got a reply that said, I did not meet “certain internal criteria”. By law of RBI (refer to website http://rbi.org.in/scripts/NotificationUser.aspx?Id=4379&Mode=0), banks are required to furnish the reasons whenever a credit application is rejected.
I sent a mail again to the bank, mentioning the above, after which I got a reply as follows :
“We understand that you would like to know the reason for non-approval of your
application for a Standard Chartered Bank credit card. In this regard, we wish
to apprise that while validating for issuance of a credit card, we apply scoring
pattern based on the details filled by you in your application form.”

I do not understand why the bank cannot give me the details of my application rejection. I am indeed extremely disappointed with the inefficient and incompetent services of “Standard Chartered”. Much more is expected from a bank with such high credentials.
