I had purchased an automatic treadmill from Avision Fitness, Mumbai on 20-Nov-2011 which according to the company ProFit Fitness (manufactured and distributed by S.B. Sports, Jaipur) is covered by one year onsite warranty. The running deck of my treadmill broke down in June-2012 after normal usage (30-35 minutes a day, 3-4 times a week, maximum weight limit is 100 kg and my weight is around 75-80 kg). The dealer told me that this has never happened before in any of his treadmills and is not covered under warranty. However, the deck costs around Rs. 7000 and he is willing to bear half of that cost so that I would have to shell out at least Rs 3500. I lodged a complaint on the company website http://www.profitfitness.in/. The MD of the company Mr. Sunil Baveja assured me that this indeed is covered under warranty and would be rectified immediately. No action was taken by the company till 15 days later even after my repeated email reminders. It was only after my phone call did they claim to have shipped the deck through StarTrek Logistics on 5-Jul-2012. The deck however has not got delivered to the dealer or to me till date. The reason cited by them is that the consignment has been detained at the Octroi check post in Mumbai for inspection (the reason for detention is not made clear to me even after numerous phone calls to the courier company and to the sales head of SB Sports). Neither has SB Sports made even a single phone call to apprise me of the status of the situation nor have they suggested a definite timeline by which this issue would be resolved. The only argument they have come up with is that this is a government process and they cannot do anything about this even though the website claims that they provide hassle free onsite warranty. I have made more than 20 phone calls and exchanged dozens of emails to follow up on the entire process which have all remained futile.
