Cheating @ NOKIA CARE

Location/place: Hyderabad

Name of company/service: NOKIA

Hi,

I’m using an Nokia N8 Mobile with IMEI: 351661058233614.

I took my phone to Global Cell World which is the nearest NOKIA CARE as the touch of my phone was not working. The person or the technician who addressed my issue, his name was Balu. I was asked to sit and wait so that he will check what the issue is. He came back with the motherboard of the phone, saying that its an Water Damage to the touch part of the MoBo. He said that it will cost about 4500/- to get the touch replaced. I said that its impossible that it can be a water damage as I was out of town that day and was driving my car the whole trip and hardly used the phone and the phone was kept at a secure location where the water entering the car and more over falling on the phone is impossible. He refused my reasons and said that its water which he found and if I want my phone to work with touch I’ll have to pay Rs. 4500/-, when I asked if there was any litmus damage, he said no, which means its not a water damage. He argued and said no other go, I said OK as I was not given any other choice.

He said to come back to collect the phone as he is going to keep the phone under observation for 24 hours after the touch is replaced. I went home. I luckily had an alternate phone which I started using. I got a call from NOKIA CARE which I was unable to respond to. As I gave the alternate number of my wife’s. They called her to inform that the MoBo is also gone and the phone had to go to the factory to get that changed and it will take 15-20 days to get it back. My wife did not know what to say and asked to send the mobile to factory. She later called me on my home phone and told me that the phone is going to Factory for MoBo replacement. When I asked her about the cost for that, she told that the NOKIA CARE people who called did not tell her about it. I rushed to NOKIA CARE to find out what is the actual problem. They said that they tried to replace the Touch and in the process they burnt one of the touches which they had.(Lie) as in how much extra I would have to pay to get that replaced. They said that it will be about Rs. 500/- to Rs. 1000/- extra to the Touch Rs. 4500/-.
I was not happy. I said I don’t need service as I can buy any other brand of mobile for the money I’m spending on this phone. I took it back home. I started using the phone with the USB mouse and it was working fine. Its just that the touch is not working.

After 3 days suddenly the touch started working. I thought wow I saved big time money which NOKIA CARE wanted to cheat me.

I’m OK with it as the phone is working. But if I look at the screen closely there are finger prints of the tech who opened the phone on the actual screen which is inside which cannot be swiped without opening the phone. I thought I can go back to NOKIA CARE and get it cleaned. Today 29th July 2013. I went to NOKIA CARE to get it cleaned. They refused service, I spoke to NOKIA CARE supervisor Daniel who also said nothing can be done I’ll have to live with the finger prints on the screen. Saying that we will not touch the phone as it would void the warranty.

I would like to know, so NOKIA wants me to look at the finger prints on my phone till the time I’m using the phone. And if something else happens to the phone will NOKIA repair my mobile. Not knowing that NOKIA Cheats there customer for few extra money by getting them into a situation where they have to pay for service even when the phone is in warranty and wants customers to buy extended warranty.

I will not walk in to get my phone repaired which I did today. I want my phone to be replaced as its NOKIA’s mistake that they did not clean there finger prints off the screen. I would file a complaint in consumer court for compensation soon.

Kotaiah K

    Hi Team,

So it’s been a week after I wrote an email to NOKIA and NOKIA out of Blue realizes that it needs the JOB SHEET NUMBER now. I believe that NOKIA keeps the records online internally and you would be able to check the Job Sheet number yourself. But however as you requested for it I would go to the NOKIA CARE where I got my Phone checked and would get it and will mail you tomorrow.

And the Device is with me and I would not give it for any kind of repair at NOKIA CARE and I hope the warranty of my phone would not expire before I get a proper answer from NOKIA.

I’m not sure if you have read the Post on the Consumer Forum for which I added a link in my first email and MAY BE I’M NOT THAT DESCRIPTIVE WHICH NOKIA IS UNABLE TO UNDERSTAND
I would paste the same in the email so that you can highlight and reply which part of it can’t be understood.

The Post clearly says that the phone is with me and not with NOKIA CARE.
Its 10 days that I’m living with my mobile and looking at some guys finger prints on the screen.
    Please speed up the process.
