I live in town-Baddi, Distt. Solan, Himachal Pradesh. I purchased a air-cooler on 29th April 2014. The retailer promised me a one-summer season guarantee of the cooler. On 1st June, i.e. one month after the purchase, one of the motor windings was burned, and resulted in deteriorated speed of the fan. The fan was running very slow now. On 4th June, I went to him carrying the cooler and asked him to repair. He asked me to come back next day. When I went back next day on 5th June, he said that he has repaired it, but when I checked, it was still running extremely slow. I told him that the problem is still not solved. Then he started saying that it’s your mental imagery that it’s now running slow, and that this is the optimum speed of the cooler fan. Then I asked him, “why don’t you compare the speed of this cooler with any other cooler at your shop.” He neglected me for a while. Afterwards, he showed the insolent behavior and hooliganism, and presumptuously moved his hand to slap me up. Then he warned me either to leave his shop right away, or he’ll make me leave by other means. He was abusing me and said, “either you take your cooler with you or leave it, I’m not going to repair it, go and do what you can.” I couldn’t do anything, and left the shop.
Then I went to another electrical repair shop, and got it checked by the electrician over there. He opened the motor and showed me that one winding of the motor was burned. Then he replaced the motor. It cost me Rs. 550. I paid it from my pocket. This motor was supposed to be replaced by the retailer in guarantee period, but he simply refused to do so. Moreover, he threatened me with his local hooligan powers and abuse. He also nearly hit a blow on my face. It took me 3 hours to get it repaired through another shop, and to carry it back to my room.
Kindly take some action these kind of retailers who make high-and-mighty promises of guarantee to please customers while selling the products; however, on the other hand they don’t meet even one percent of their liabilities as well as humanity. Please let me know the result of your action.
