I had Rs.99/- GPRS plan (4GB) active on my mobile number. In the month of February 2013, I had consumed around 90 percent of the data available and wanted an upgradation. I called Airtel customer care (121) for the same and a lady customer care representative answered my call and she informed me that I can upgrade to Rs. 149/- plan which gives unlimited data usage. And by the end of the call she told me my bill for the next month will be charged “prorate basis” and nothing else was informed regarding what will be charged in pro rate basis. The next day I received an sms from Airtel stating that my internet usage bill amount is Rs. 10700/- approx as on date on that day (March 3rd). I had been following up with Airtel representatives and Nodal Officers, everyone promising to resolve the issue in couple of days. Lot of couple of days went by and no result. Once they also came down offering me Rs. 5000/- as discount, which I did not accept, as the mistake was purely from Airtel’s side. I wrote a mail finally to the nodal team stating the issue clearly and if I am not getting a favorable reply I would approach the consumer forum. They replied me stating that they have state of the art billing facility and their bill is exactly correct and offering me Rs.1000/- as discount. Being irritated and frustrated by these people in Airtel I am writing here in Akosha expecting a favorable solution.
